  1. Yeah but I'll bet they didn't pass through the masterful hands of Katsushige (Ken) Oikawa. I paid him $77 plus shipping both ways for the privilege. The camera really is worth what I quoted in the original post. Here's an image of my MGB taken with the AT-1:
  2. Boulder Falls, CO. Mamiya 645E 45mm f/2.8 on Tmax400 in Xtol
  3. High Plains Raceway near Denver. A-1 FDn 50/1.4 on Tmax 100
  4. To any schools of photography: Send me a check for $18 and I will ship the camera to you. The check and letterhead must demonstrate that you are a legitimate institute that offers classes in film photography and processing. For private parties the final price is $100 plus $18 shipping. Also note that I just bought a body cap for it on eBay.
  5. At seventy-one years old, I really don't need this camera and I very much want to sell it even at a significant loss so it will now be offered at $125 plus $18 shipping. If it doesn't sell in the next month I'll donate it to a local photography school in the Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins area..
  6. New price: $165 and free shipping. That's as low as I am willing to go.
  7. That camera makes really great images and is fun to use but I have too many cameras. When I grab a 35mm it is almost always the A-1 or the Mamiya 645E. Medium format has become my new love. The AT-1 and two other Canons are for sale in the classified section of photo.net. I just went a little too crazy buying cameras early this year and last. Some kids just never grow up.
  8. Theodore Roosevelt, one of my all-time favorite people. Mt Rushmore, SD. A-1 FDn 135/3.5 and FD 2x-B extender on Tmax400
  9. Lupine Blue butterfly in the tundra, Rocky Mountain National Park, Canon T7i. Image made yesterday by my wife Deborah.
  10. New price: $175 and free shipping.
  11. An old friend seen at the local AP last week. FTbn FD 50/1.8 on Tmax 400
  12. Jim: It's been a long time since I left Michigan but I seem to recall pretty girls there got mad if you didn't notice them.
  13. Mt. Rushmore, Black HIlls SD. Mamiya 645E 80mm f/3.5 Tri-X in Xtol
  14. Canon AV-1 body only. No lens. I bought this brand new-in-box from a seller in Japan in February 2022. It still had the clear tag over the shutter. In March master Canon technician Katsushige (Ken) Oikawa replaced the mirror cushion and light shields, adjusted the mirror box, shutter speed and aperture priority exposure meter. Includes box, user manual and all original paperwork I used it one time - too many cameras, too little time. Price is $170. Can ship to the continental USA for $18.
  15. For sale a Canon AT-1 body only with new light seals and new carrying strap. In May 2022 master Canon technician Katsushige (Ken) Oikawa adjusted the mirror box. shutter speed and match-needle exposure meter. Apart from a small amount of dust on the inside of the focusing screen which does not affect exposures, the camera is in very fine condition.I used it three times since the CLA - too many cameras, too little time. Price is $190. Can ship to the continental USA for $18.
  16. There's no way I'm taking the top off of that camera. If that is the only solution, I'll live with the dust. I'm wondering how in the world it got in there in the first place.
  17. I recently acquired an AT-1 body that has dirt on the inside of the focusing screen (on the prism side). You can see it with or without a lens. It's not very obvious in every day casual use. The dirt (smear) is not loose. The fact that it's there at all is annoying. Is there some way to clean this? It would involve removing the screen.
  18. Ken: I see your point and have been thinking about this for awhile. Nearly all of my photography is for landscapes. What I need is maximum depth of field so I seldom use anything faster than an f/1.8 lens. I have a spare FD 50mm f/1.4 lens in perfect condition. I could combine the FTBn with this lens instead of the 1.8 and offer it without the eye cup and UV filter for the same price.
  19. Can anyone tell me why this camera has not acquired a new owner? It looks like new, probably works better than new (I only exposed two rolls of B/W film since the recent CLA, the shutter works without a battery. Top of the line Duracell 386 batteries are $1.66 on Amazon. If you already own a Canon F-1 this is the best possible backup for it. I don't think the price is unreasonable at all. I am conflicted about selling it but whenever I reach for one of my (too many) Canon cameras I almost invariably choose the A-1 because that's what I am most used to. I have other cameras that will be sold for this simple reason.
  20. Who says I can't take portraits? A-1 FDn 50/1.4. Stan the T-Rex, Museum@Black Hills Institute Hill City, SD
  21. Looking at online reviews of the 500mm mirror lens, the rings occur sometimes and not others. Why is that? The aperture adjustable FDn 400mm f4.5 with a Canon 1.4-A extender seems like the more practical of the two though. 560mm is very appealing.
  22. Has anyone ever owned or used a Canon FD 400mm f/4.5 SSC MF or Canon FDn NFD 500mm F/8 Reflex Mirror lens? There are some very nice ("near" mint) examples from Japan on ebay for less than $400 USD. I've been thinking about getting one of these for black and white nature photography.
  23. Canon FTb QL with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 FD lens, Hoya UV filter, Lens cap, new carrying strap, new viewfinder eye cup. Also included is a Criscam adapter for common 386 batteries. In January 2021 master Canon technician Katsushige (Ken) Oikawa replaced the mirror cushion and light seals, cleaned, lubed and adjusted shutter speeds, meter and mirror box. The all-manual match needle meter reads a 12% rectangle in the viewfinder (same as the Canon F1). Shutter speed is displayed in the viewfinder. The Canon FD Lens is flawless. Camera and lens are in like new condition. Price is $260 firm. I can ship it within the continental USA for $18.
