I dont think the background distracts, if anything the blackness almost highlights the leopards face.

Is that one of those fiber optic tree/bush things that rotates and changes colors? How long was the actual exposure to get that rounded look you achieved? -
Heres a link to another of Rick's photos, old cabin door with very distorted perspective of a skyscraper. Would be good for the photographer to talk about other techniques used on the picture. Good contrast, and I enjoyed door itself, very rustic.

After a week camping with strangers, we spent the last night writing
letters to each other about the experience. I caught one of my new
friends writing hers on a log over the lakes edge.
