  1. Thank you! What is the website for NPI? That sounds great! Recital is June 24 so as it gets closer I may ask more Q's.
  2. Relationship with the company is my friend. When I agreed to do this, just thought it would be quick and easy (dogs aren't too difficult). I believe if someone asked them who took the photographs, they would recommend. Which leads me to believe it's just ignorance, or not my friend posting the photos. Monetary benefit was received day-of. They verbally stated they would tag me in all photos posted. I was''t too worried about it at the time so I didn't draw up a contract (my bad definitely). It was verbally mentioned by omeone else in the company that I would definitely be hired again next time, which is why I don't want to make too big of a deal about it. I have, I asked my friend to give credit on the 2 photos posted at the time. Since then, more photos have been posted without due credit. Yes, I was paid, which is why I came here to this forum first before I said another word to them! Haha. Thanks for the advise. Not an ad, a casual social media post. Most instagram posts I see have multiple tags -------------------------- UPDATE: I posted one of the photos on my instagram today and they commented "Best day ever!" I have no idea what's going on. haha
  3. Hello! What are my rights if a client keeps posting photos without tagging me? Background: a friend of mine works for a dog food company, and we scheduled an all-day shoot last weekend with the company. The company is the professional photos that I took without tagging me- on their business instagram and their local store instagram and on their Facebook & other platforms. I'm not sure if it's my friend or the company who's doing this, but it's rubbing me the wrong way (they've already posted about 6 photos. 2 photos in I asked my friend to tag me, they did, but haven't tagged me in the ones thereafter). What are my rights? Should I keep bugging my friend? It's a small business, so they don't get too much traffic/engagement, but it's the principle of it all... this can apply to any other jobs as well.
  4. The Recital is June 24th This is such great information, thank you! I had actually never thought of it that way. It's hard sometimes to think that all of your money and effort to deliver better photos goes unnoticed. It's true, I don't do enough of these kinds of events to warrant hiring an assistant, since I'm barely getting a payment myself. I actually wouldn't mind doing it myself, but it just seems a bit hectic to do so directly after the performance when the parent is just trying to get their child and get out of there. Is this how it usually goes?
  5. Also, I would like to charge more this time considering last time I had a Canon Rebel and a standard lens. Now I have a Canon 5D Mark III and a 24-70 f/2.8 ii lens. I also have much more experience and I've been educating myself at film school the last 2 years. So, how should I go about telling her I would like to charge more? Thanks!
  6. Hi! Thanks for your responses! 1. There's two 2-hour shows on a Saturday, 2pm and 7pm. Students are young, probably 2 years old to 18 years old. Most parents are at the recital but not allowed to take photos/ video, i would have exclusivity (though sometimes they don't listen and do it anyway). No assistant, just me. 2. I charge the dance studio owner/teacher. Last time I charged her $200 for general photos of the day, but we didn't sell prints. Selling prints bring a new aspect where the parents expect a photo of their child to be taken, even if they're in the last row. So, it requires more skill to capture the little ones in the back. These would be photos the parent can't capture on their iPhone so it's almost a guaranteed sale. 3. I'm currently in the process of switching my website over to Squarespace, I believe they just incorporated selling into their platform. "Introducing Checkout on Your Domain for Online Stores"
  7. Hello all! This is my first post in the forum. I took dance recital photos last year for a studio, but this year they want to offer prints to the parents. 1. what's the best way to go about this? 2. will my initial price change since I have to photograph more detailed (try to get each dancer) rather than generally? 3. should i sell through my website? 4. should i offer the dance studio a cut or is that all my profit? Thanks!
