1. Amazing images. I thing Nightmare is a surprisingly appropriate name for that shot. Still looking for the unicorn, but I love the shot even without it.
2. Yeah, that's way off. I don't know if micro-adjustment is going to be enough. If you bought it from a retailer with good policies, I'd see about exchanging it.
3. Nice explanation. I didn't realize there was such a big delay between shots. I can't think of any reason why there needs to be. Everything is happening at microprocessor speeds, so must have intentionally built that delay into the system.
4. I haven't had a Minolta lens go yellow, but I've had others that did. Exposure to sunlight helps, but isn't a miracle cure, It lightened the yellowing of my lenses, but didn't completely clear them. You raise an interesting point, regarding B&W. I wonder if the yellowing has the same, though probably milder, effect as a yellow filter.
5. Love the flower and grass shots. Love the shots with the Tamron. The 400 seems like a pretty good performer, too.
6. I'm not familiar with it, so this may be a dumb question but, would the pixel shift compensate for using a higher ISO to get a fast enough speed to allow the pixel shift to work?
7. I love the detail in this one. Did you see any falling rocks? I've seen lots of falling rock warning signs, but I've yet to see a rock fall in any of those places. For me, that would be more like winning the lottery! You totally nailed that one. Worth every penny! Every shot is stunning in one or more ways.
8. What does heart have to do with it? It's a simple fact. I don't know the guy. He could be a saint or he could be a jerk. Each is equally likely, and I have not called him either one. And if this place was still as draconian as you suggest it used to be, I would have nothing to do with it. I'd say the change is more in the nature of growing up emotionally, rather than slipping. There has to be some mechanism to allow users to provide feedback to the site operators.
9. Well, I agree with that assessment, but it isn't proof that he's in need of help. He could just be a jerk without any extenuating circumstances.
10. Yes. And if that's the case, I'll totally understand, but we have no reason to believe that is the case.
11. His chirp was in response to your chirp. If you don't want a reply, don't chirp.
12. Did someone question his usage of the word, or are you pre-empting possible questions?
13. Thanks, Rick. Yeah, I don't know where the yellow cast came from. Could be the scanner, could be LR. Could be my fault. Uninstalling/reinstalling is generally sound advice. I did try that, several times, before emailing Epson. They sent me a slightly more detailed set of instructions that includes manually removing the driver. I haven't had time to follow them, yet. I appreciate the advice on working with the P.net software. I did the drag and drop, but ended up with several copies of each shot. I managed to remove the extras, but then it moved all the photos to the end and re-sorted them, so the captions are not only separate but in the wrong order. :rolleyes:o_O:mad::rolleyes:
14. This is why the other forums post the rules at the beginning of these threads.
15. Thanks, Stuart. I'm actually slightly different behavior, but who knows? Maybe that will help. But, I was referring to the software running photo.net as being garbage. It completely messed up my post, then messed up my attempts to fix it, then timed out while I was fixing it for the third time, so that I can't fix it a fourth time, and we're all stuck with that mess.
16. That must have been very cool. I'd love to visit Costa Rica.
17. Awsome shot of what looks to be an awesome building.
18. Awesome! That backup singer should buy that image from you. All great portraits. Perfect timing! Good job! Overwatching? For sharks, or is that just a reference to its role in wartime? What a cutie! I'm not familiar with that species of Conure. Was it in the wild or in captivity? Gorgeous! Do you happen to know how snipa is pronounced? Would it be snipe-uh, sneep-uh, snip-uh, or something else?
19. Gorgeous shot, Rick. I'm guessing it's on a sheet of glass, over the table, and that's why it looks like it's floating? I find the reflection on the lower edge distracting but, overall, it's great gear porn. :)
20. Beautiful work, as always. Unlike Bill, I've never seen a Morris in person. That one kind of looks like the offspring of a 1940's Dodge and a Volkswagen Bug (from any decade prior to the "New Bug"). I also love the Daikin shot. If you scroll just a few line, the pattern of the grills does a bit of a psychedelic dance. :) Nice work, Chuck. I especially like the tonality of the sheep photo. I somehow lived my entire life without ever realizing there is such a thing as spotted sheep, until now.
21. All very nice shots, but did you forget that this thread is One per Day?
22. What a mess. This software is garbage.
23. And here are the results.... Sedona Red Rock Country Bell Rock Bell Rock II Desert near Bell Rock - is it me, or is this showing a lot of distortion? Sedona Shopping Country - I don't know if it's the scanner messing up the color or something else Sedona Dining Country with my wife, Rose, looking confused about something towards the street Ponderosa Tree Houses - the color version is fine. I just like this in B&W for some reason Craftsman style meets Frank Lloyd Wright - one of the old bungalows in downtown Mesa, AZ Sail Ho - Mesa Arts Center Sail Mo - Mesa Arts Center - this also looks distorted to me, but I don't know if it's the camera or the way I used it Yellow - Mesa Arts Center - not sure if I missed focus or failed to hold the camera still enough - I don't think it's the camera's fault I just about swore off of scanning film because of the struggle I went through to get these scanned. The Epson software kept crashing after each strip was scanned, and I'd have to unplug the scanner and sometimes reboot the computer to get it to work again. I think it's actually Microsoft's fault, though, because it didn't do this when I first got the scanner. It started after one of the times Windows decided to update itself. And, after all that, the color is off on a lot of the frames. But, not all, which is annoying. Machines are supposed to be consistent.
