  1. With all the negative comments I've been reading in the Help forum, I've been restricting myself to just the Nikon forum, which is not very active. Just now I thought I would peruse more by going to my Portfolio and using the left column navigation. I find it very awkward. I certainly don't like the mouse over open of each item, the slightest move and the wrong list shows constantly. Why can't a simple click drop each section to reveal the choices? I've designed web sites as well as databases for a variety of businesses, being very conscious of the user interface, the design of Photo.net is not very user friendly.
  2. Glenn stated recently that the old site will not be back.
  3. That's been mentioned a few times. The work around is to hit a carriage return before you start typing to go to the next line and when you post, that return will disappear.
  4. To break the paragraphs, use < br >< br > (without the spaces), post the message then refresh your screen. Certainly an inconvenience, but until someone decides to fix it, that's what needs to be done.
  5. <br><br>The workaround is to include html bracketed code to force the carriage returns; < br > < br > (remove the spaces), but the spacing will only show after you submit then refresh your screen.
  6. The work around mentioned in other posts is to first hit a carriage return, then start typing. Because of the CR bug, that first one will not show.
  7. Uh oh, I have a Spider plate, hand grip and Monfroto quick release on the bottom of my D300s and allows the battery door to be opened easily, sounds like the D500 door will be covered by the plate. Not so happy about that.
  8. I just did a test to see if uploading an avatar with Safari 10.0.3 has been fixed. It has not and actually it's even worse than before.
  9. Look for the manual on the Nikon web site, which also has a variety of tutorials if I'm not mistaken.
  10. I saw a post earlier by GPalm saying that they will not be going back to the old site.
  11. That worked, and I included two br brackets to get the carriage returns. Where are uploaded images stored when not done through the Portfolio?
  12. This is a test of uploading an image on my MacBook Pro using Safari 10.0.3.<br><br>
  13. Posted at the same time. Yes, Adorama, so I have choices.
  14. At B&H refurbished are going for about $1650, used 9-10 quality about $1600, so refurb is the way I'll go. I figure to get about $400 trade in for each of my D300s there.
  15. I'm definitely going to the D500, but I have to hold off for now.
  16. I jus did what you said but when I change a8 to 11, I don't get 51 focus points, I get 11, only when I set it to 51 do I get 51.
  17. I will not be tracking a moving object, I just need to be able to frame the subject more efficiently, not have to lock focus and move to the framing I want, just choose the appropriate focus point.
  18. Understood, but with sudden car expenses, I have to hold off on the D500 for a few months at least. I'm curious to see how well the 51 will serve me. I shoot concerts and need to have the conductor and orchestra in frame from the wings, the 51 will allow me to use various zoom levels and compose so the conductor is always in focus.
  19. Yes, but to be able to go up to 51 on my D300s will really help, I've been using 21 all this time.
  20. Hi Simply. Just a quick note, typing in all uppercase online means you're very angry and yelling.
  21. After having the D300s for a few years, I just discovered the menu setting to use 51 focus points, boy do I feel dumb. One of the big reasons I wanted a D500 was more focus points, but now with 51 to work with, I'm going to hold off on the D500.
  22. I'm looking forward to replacing my two refurb D300s bodies with refurb D500 bodies, but have to wait a couple of months to save up.
  23. After reading most of the posts about the new site, seems to me that it was activated far too soon. I think I'm going to stick to just looking at the Nikon forum and not bother with any other part of the forum until it gets sorted out.<br><br>I will post one more question, is there a payment level that eliminates advertisements, can't find a listing of that anywhere. Wait, I just figured it out, in my account the View Options link (which at first I thought was for changing the way the page looked, maybe change the wording to Membership Options). So there's no way to eliminate ads, even with Premium payment, again not like any of the other forums I frequent.
