1.
Hey Keith. I am in the US, so this is helpful! I called around in my city (Portland, OR) and found out no one services these here. I'll give Ken a call and see what he says. Thanks!

 2.
I recently bought the newer model F1 (F1N) from a guy online. When I received it, I noticed something odd when looking at the meter in the viewfinder. When changing the shutter speed from a slower number to a faster one (for example, 1/125 > 1/500) the aperture scale for metering on the right side of the viewfinder gets obstructed or blocked. Sometimes it's fully blocked, other times it's slanted at an angle so the bottom half is blocked but you can see part of the top half. This happens at EVERY shutter speed on the dial, but only when turning it right/faster. When turned back to the left/slower, it becomes unblocked. Now, I know that this aperture scale is supposed to be blocked when put into "A" mode, but obviously the camera is malfunctioning and causing it to block when it shouldn't be. At first I thought it was a viewfinder issue, but it happens with the AE finder and the regular one, and I confirmed it by taking off the finder all together and seeing it happen in the tiny window where this scale is on the left of the focusing screen. Now, this doesn't severely affect it's functionality, but obviously I bought the camera because the description was that it was "fully operational" and paid accordingly. Ideally an easy fix would be great, but if this needs to go to a shop for repair, any recommendations for a place I can send it to would be great, as no one in my city will work on these.

 3.
I tried cleaning the contacts on both the body and the grip with a pencil eraser since I heard that usually works well, but it's still giving me the error.

 4.
Hmm, I tried wiping them with a lint free cloth. Still the same. What else could I try to clean them better? Or should that be enough? The thing is too, in case it wasn't clear from my post, I have 2 different standard grips as well as the PB-E2 grip. BOTH standard grips are giving me errors. And BOTH standard grips work fine on my 1v. They only are giving me issues on my 1n. I guess there's a chance it could still be something to do with the grip, but it would have to be BOTH grips at the same time, and for some reason the 1v is immune to it.

 5.
I own a 1n and a 1v. The 1n has been in better working condition, so I've mostly used that with the PB-E2 grip. I've had no issues. Then I decided to sell it to a friend, so I put the original grip back on it and loaded it with a 2CR5 battery. Now when I hit the shutter, I get the dreaded "bc" error, but it's different than what my google searching has come up with. For me, the shutter fires fine, but then the "bc" starts flashing. If I press the shutter half way again, the error goes away and will fire again if I press all the way. It happens with two different lenses attached but also with no lens at all. I tried 2 different standard grips, but only the one battery since it's the only one I have. I'm pretty positive it's fresh though, because when I move the grip and battery over to my 1v, it works fine and displays the battery as full with no errors at all. Anyone know what could be up? If I move the 1n back to the PB-E2, the error is gone entirely. It seems to be only the combination of a standard grip and this 1n (but not the grip or battery itself since it works fine on the 1v, and two separate grips give the same issue).
