1.
Thanks Pete! I'd seen the Cine 8 manual, but with the Cine Special manual specifying that it goes in and then down it becomes a lot more clear. As you say, it also explains the wear marks on the case around the exposure button...that's exactly what I was trying to find out!

So it would seem that the button is stuck in the "Out" position, and possibly in lock mode. Since it's position is closer to where the top of the wear marks are, I'm guessing it isn't in lock mode.

Now the question becomes, how do I get it loose? I see four screws on that side of the case, though I have nightmares of springs exploding out... Perhaps there are lubrication points? I'll see if I can find any schematics online.
Thanks so much for taking the time to help, Pete! I greatly appreciate it.

Bradd

 2.
Hello! I'm new here and have a modest collection of film and movie equipment, with my favorites being from the 1940's. One of my most valued is my grandparents Cine-Kodak 8, and I'm hoping someone with more experience can give me some insights.
It winds well (so I assume the spring is intact) but the button to advance the film will not budge. I'm not sure if it's supposed to push in, slide up and down (as the wear marks might suggest), or if the pin in the center is supposed to be sticking out? Perhaps there's some place I should squeeze in a drop of oil?
Can anyone suggest how I might get it moving again (and in which direction)? I'd really like to release the tension on the winding spring...

<img src=" alt="" /> />

Suggestions appreciated!

Bradd
