1.
Hi everyone, many thanks for the useful comments, I'm always impressed by how helpful everyone is around here and the useful insights I've gotten. To answer a common question – I do indeed plan to fully use the camera and it's definitely not for display. In that sense, I'm not just after mint-condition ones, but I've been looking for a (good condition) black version of the FM2 for a while now (mind you, I live in Europe and I'm only looking at European sellers so that I don't have to deal with import and duty fees, it would cost me a lot otherwise) and this one was a particularly good deal.
I'll be asking the seller whether he can test the shutter speeds, film transport, and meter, as mentioned above, and see what he says. But I do get the feeling I'd be better off waiting a bit longer for a slightly used camera in a good condition. Thanks again for your help.

 2.
I've been looking for a Nikon FM2 in a good condition for a while now and recently came across one on ebay that ticks all the boxes and more. It's in mint, boxed condition and the seller says it's never been used - the shutter guard is still in place and it never had a film in it.
I'd love to buy the camera as the price is somewhat decent, but I'm wondering if there are any risks with buying an old camera that's never been used. It looks great in the photos but I'm a little reluctant – I guess I'd feel more comfortable with buying something that's been proven to work. Is there anything I should be aware of or ask the seller?
Many thanks.

 3.
Thanks everyone. It's pretty clear then that the triangular ones are standard. Brian Sweeney's response is interesting – if some people actually preferred the circular rings (I wonder why), then the seller I found might just be one of them...

 4.
Hi there,
I'm about to buy a Nikon FM2 which is in great condition, but I have a question about the photos the seller is providing me. From what I can tell, it appears that the strap rings have been replaced with some round ones and that they've attached some sort of fabric for protection purposes. When I asked whether that was the case, the seller insisted it was part of the original packaging and they are they first owner.
Now I've seen quite a few photos of the Nikon FM2 and none of them had those round strap rings (they were all triangular) or those pieces of fabric, but I might be wrong. Obviously I'm aware this doesn't affect the functionality of the camera in any way, but if I'm going to pay a premium for a 'mint condition, all original parts included' camera, it would be nice to know the truth...
If anyone has any knowledge of this and can tell me if those strap rings are indeed not original, that would be very helpful.
