  1. I have the Cotton Carrier CCS G3 and I have a Nikon D750. I do not have a 24-70mm or a 70-200mm f/2.8.

I use the Cotton Carrier when I am riding my mountain bike on trails through the woods. The lenses I have had attached to my camera when using the Cotton Carrier are relatively small compared to a 70-200 f/2.8. I have used it with a Nikkor 70-210 f/4-5.6D, Nikkor 16-35 f/4G, Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G and a Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8. For those camera/lens combinations the Cotton Carrier works great. The set up is very comfortable. The camera is held very securely and it is accessible in just a few seconds. When I take my Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6 with me I will carry my camera gear in a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW back pack. Although I have not tried it I don't think that lens would work well on the Cotton Carrier.

  2. Another alternative is to snap an establishment photo at the same time, using a smart phone. My iPhone, for example, will record the GPS coordinates and the name of the nearest town and county. That worked in both Iceland and Ireland.

As Ed mentions iPhones, and other smart phones as well, record the GPS coordinates when a photo it taken:

    1. Take photos with your camera.
    2. Take one photo with your smart phone from the same location.
    3. Import camera and smart phone photos into Lightroom.
    4. Click on the right arrow next to the GPS coordinates in the metadata of the smart phone picture and the map will open showing the location the photo was taken.
    5. With the map displayed select camera photos from the same location that are displayed along the bottom edge of Lightroom.
    6. Drag and drop them onto the location marker on the map. The camera photos will now have the location in their metadata.

Perhaps not the ideal solution, nor something you would want to do every time but it might have a limited application.

  3. My computer (desktop), which is almost 2 years old(I bought it during the holiday sale season), is very similar to the one you are describing, but not quite up to that specification. The processor is an i7-6700/3.40GHz; NVIDIA GTX 960; 16 GB RAM; 256GB SSD; 2TB Hard drive.

I also use it for editing RAW photos in LR and PS. I am pleased with the performance and speed. It was a huge improvement over my old laptop.

    Good Luck!
