1.
Thanks for the constructive response, I found it very helpful.

It's not the short barrel version, so I will rule that out. I think what might be happening is I'm comparing the focus of the subjects before infinity range with subjects at the infinity range. Unfortunately I don't own the 90mm anymore but was reflecting on past observation using it.

1. What kind of damage to the lens would affect the ability to focus at infinity?
2. Vice versa, what damage to the camera would affect this, if the bellows appear to be working perfectly?
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond.

 2.
Thanks for replying. I will attempt to explain my issue in a more linear way.

I begin composing the clouds (quite far away) with the waste level viewfinder, the subject is out of focus so I begin to use the focusing knob adjusting the bellows to focus, the clouds go from very out of focus and seem to become clearer but then I reach the end of the bellows focusing capabilities and the the subject matter is still far from sharp.
When I've used a 90mm lens, I can achieve sharpness of subjects far away, but the angle is too wide for the images I'd like to achieve. The 180mm creates the composition I'm after, but appears to be limited focusing on subjects like clouds from my perspective.
I was unsure if extension tubes would give me more focusing capabilities with subjects further away, or potentially hinder it even more son.

 3.
Hello

Apologies in advance for the potentially obvious questions.

For sometime I've wanted to photograph clouds and sky-scapes, from a reasonably broad perspective but with the ability to focus on lower clouds and achieve sharp images. I've had a Mamiya RZ67 body and 120 back stored away for some time and I've been waiting for the right lens at a reasonable price on eBay. I was considering a 250mm lens to get me close enough to clouds and then hope the bellow focal range would allow me to focus on closer clouds, but I was unwilling to pay a certain amount for fear of being stuck with the wrong lens. In the end I snapped up a very clean 180mm lens for £90, the issue I'm having is the focal range from the bellows. When focusing on the closest clouds I'm unable to achieve sharp focus with the bellows at it's minimum focal range. The particular question I wanted to ask is what lens would allow me to photograph just areas of the sky, whilst being able to achieve a sharp focus. I was wondering if an No1 or No2 extension tube would resolve this problem instead of buying a new lens?

Thank you in advance, I appreciate there being a space to ask questions like this.
