thanks a lot to both of you. Nilantha, I think I will take the camera to canon indeed. I am a bit concerned these small issues could develop in something bigger.

<p>Hello all!!<br> after being a pasive user of this site for many years, its time to post for first time. this site seems like one of the most serious out there (people tend to know what they are talking about), so here we go<br> I got a canon 5d mark iii for 8 months now. apart from having a defective lock switch (does not work at all) and a hard to switch live view button (both issues do not concern me much), lately, I am noticing a strange behaviour with the quick control dial. I am far more concern about this. After switching from many years using nikon, this is a sad way to be welcomed in canon world.<br> The fact is that every now and then, when I turn the wheel to playback images, pics displayed do not show properly.<br> lets say I have 5 pictures on my CF. Lets say I playback the number 1. I turn the wheel forward to play number two and camera does well, but I turn forward again to display number 3 but camera dispalys number one again. this random behaviour goes on until I switch off the camera and switch it back on again. Taking off the battery and replacing it again also fixes the issue instantly.</p> <p>Is there anyone out the with this same problem as mine?</p> <p>I try to figure out what is going on... is that a hardware related problem? firmware? I installed the latest firmware before being aware of this issue (could a badly installed firmware causing this?). I also did recently a reset of the clock battery (probem has not come back since then, although it is still to early to know)<br> Sometimes, I even think it is the CF cards that is causing the malfunction... could it be possible?<br> best thing should be sending camera to canon, I know, but I currently cant go through those long turnaround times they are saying (2-3 weeks). thats why, I am trying to know myself whats going on... it may be the most stupid thing...</p> <p>anyway, any advice would be much appreciated...</p> <p>thans in advance</p>
