1.
Regarding the clips, i was thinking of screwing metal ones in, or else use some little springs and a plastic windows to press the slides in place. If the objective is to hold them tight against the holder wall, tension should not matter too much.
I understand that the exact positioning of alignment marks is crucial, but did not realise that a slight offset could damage the scanner. Anyway, without the holders the scanner is essentially worthless, and i do not even know if my specimen is actually operational -- so i am willing to risk that. If the scanner can be made to pull through and scan a 3d-printed holder, i figure we could scan marked paper to know the correct positions for the slides and adjust the model accordingly.

 2.
Hello,

I recently aquired a second-hand canon FS4000 film scanner without slide and film holders. There are still quite a few of these units around, but it is hard to find the holders these days. There are still a few original ones, being sold for $100 a piece. It seems this could be done much cheaper using a 3d printing service. To do so, of course, we would need to build a model. And surely i am not the only one who would benefit if we succeed...

Any owner of canon FS4000 slide / film holders willing to share detailed photographs or diagrams?

Greetings,
Maarten
