1.
Greetings all from this new member,

I have decided as I begin retirement to cultivate again my photography hobby!. I am leaning toward a Nikon D3300 purchase. I used film cameras for many years, but have only used point and shoot digital cameras (and my phone!). I still have my wonderful Minolta SRT 201 film camera which I used with pleasure for many years!
My question: I am strongly considering buying one of Amazon's Nikon D3300 packages, mainly because the packages come with telephoto lenses (headed to Aftica soon for safari and would really like a tele lens). I have an old telephoto lems. It is a vivitar, 75-205 mm. Manual lens, 82 mm. 1:3.8. Macro focus capability. I used this lens on my old film camera...
My question: Can I get a Nikon mount for this lens? Is the lens of adequate quality, or should I just buy one of the amazon packages that comes with a new telephoto lens (it seems the package comes with Nikkormat lenses?? ) The packages seem to be a good value... And this old Vivitar lens is quite heavy and about 6" long...
Any other things I should consider. Do I need filters?? Do you think an amateur with little current experience would be happy to "restart" has he restarts his photography interest with the D3300??

Rchard
