Exactly, because it changes the MFT (master file table) but doesn't actually delete files so you can take a good chance with data recovery software and try bringing things back.<br>

I totally agree - when you format something and DO overwrite other data there, the previous info is lost. So this is the basic advice - even if you deleted/formatted something by mistake, do not hurry to use that memory card/pen drive again if you want to have some old info back. <br>
The next step you take should be to ask yourself a question - do you want the info restored by specialized services, or you want to try your hand at it, by using special software, which can be both free and fee-paying, and with a range of functions that may differ so much. <br>
The choice is always yours, but with not-so-important files, you can try the second option.</p>
