1.
I can't actually speak for the 6400 but I own a fine art printing business and have been using the iPF8100 since 2009 and am extremely happy with it. Don't know if I have been lucky or not but I have had close to zero problems. The 6400 is a more recent printer with the newest inks (EX) which are supposed to offer better scratch resistance and color gamut improvements. One thing that you need to take into account is that the print heads are consumables (there are 2) and except for the first couple of years of owning the 8100 I have had to replace each head yearly (roughly 350€ each) and I'm pretty sure the 6400 will be no exception. Just something to take into account. Print Quality-wise: top notch.
As for drivers, I would get in touch with Canon or check there download sectionon their website here.

 2.
If you liked using a graphics tablet and you found it helped, I'd say definitely get it, specially at that price, just make sure it's in good condition. If you're on the fence, here is an in depth article and my personal take on graphics tablets. I'm still using an old Intuos 3 for all Photoshop work and couldn't live without it for editing tasks. I'm looking to upgrade to the exact one you mentioned.

 3.
I used to be a Photoshop only user but in recent years have added Lightroom to my workflow and it has helped dramatically even though I don't shoot thousands of images at a time. LR's organizational capabilities are unrivaled IMO and excellent for basic RAW processing (that's what I use it for). I wrote an article about the differences between the two and how I use them which might be of interest.
I guess it comes down to your needs and price.

 4.
Hi everyone, my name is Nick Kilford, 39, and although I love photography, since I started back in 2005 I haven't been much of a forum guy. Glad I found this community and I am looking forward to learning as much as possible and helping others if I can.

I started stock photography in 2006 but shoot mostly for personal portfolio nowadays. I also own a fine art printing business in Lisbon, Portugal and recently started my own photography, lighting and post production blog.

I love lighting my images with strobes and using artificial light makes up most of my work. Composite photography is also something I love doing.

I use a Nikon D300.

Looking forward to get started on here!
