1. hi I recently received this classic point and shoot camera. I shot a roll of 200 Fujimax which gave some great results. the clear sunny shots were great while the dimmer shots lacked. I'm just wondering what would be a good film to use on this camera and which ISO? I know it mostly comes down to personal preference but I'd like to hear your suggestions. p.s. I'm bringing this cam with me on a trip to peru
 2.
he must be really good because someone else recommended i contact him. so i did and i'm waiting for his response. i'm wondering if it will be cheaper to repair it or just buy another one. the XD-11s go for <$100

 3.
I just bought a minolta xd-11 and have tested SR44 and LR44 batteries. both drain overnight and the LEDs start going dim after about 6 hours of being in the camera and only light use. nothing is pushing the shutter down to make the LEDs light up when i store it overnight.

 4. I think there might be an issue with the camera. the first set of brand new batteries already died after one night of storage. nothing was leaning on the shutter to make the LEDs stay on. I also find it very hard to see the LEDs in the daylight when it's bright since it's so faint. is it supposed to be a very strong red color?
 5.
Stephen - You say on-camera and off-camera flash. Can you explain the difference?

 6.
Great!

Now when I use the Vivitar 283 flash on the camera do I need to plug the cable from the flash into the X-sync terminal? I used the flash on the SRT-101 (No hot shoe) and had to plug it in, not sure if its different..

 7.
Stephen - It's definitely not a circuitry error because it does only happen when the aperture is between two stops. So I slightly rotate the ring like you say and it fixes the problem. But if I move the camera around pointing at a slightly different spot (and the light changes) it will still show me two dots on the LED. It's not like I'm moving the camera around much only about an inch..

 8.
I have a copy of the manual and have read it twice already! My biggest concern thus far is the Manual Mode two lights lighting next to shutter speed to use; I'm confused as to if I need to have one red dot only or two will be okay. You made it clear to me that in the two Automatic Modes it's fine to have both light up, but unclear about Manual Mode.

 9.
10. There's a black speck on the mirror when I take the lens off. It's one tiny little speck that I'm tempted to clean with a Q-Tip. This is not the same specks I see in the View Finder. Will the speck on the mirror appear in photos and is cleaning it a bad idea?
11. I heard there's a fully automatic mode on the camera if you set the aperture to the green number, shutter speed to 125, and turn on Shutter-Priority Mode. Is it true this will make fully automatic correct exposures?
And lastly, when I'm talking about the two red LEDs lights lighting up next to the shutter/aperture I now know it will be okay on the Automatic modes, but what about when this happens on Manual mode? I set the aperture and then the film speed will sometimes have two lights next to it, do I need to make sure only one is lit up in Manual mode? Will one shutter speed be better than the other when two lights appear?

 10.
Hi I just got my Minolta XD-11 and have a few questions.

Do I leave the battery in even if I plan on not using the camera for 7+ days?

The View Finder has black specks when viewing. Is there a way to clean this and will the black specks come out in photos?

When in any of the modes and I view the LED Light Meter it will sometimes light up two red dots next to indicate the correct shutter/aperture speed. In automatic modes can I ignore this or do I need to make sure only one red dot is light up? Is it the same situation for manual mode?

To do a double exposure I know you hold the bottom button down and advance the lever, but should I be setting the Exposure Adjustment Control to -1 for each photo to properly expose?

Name up to 3 amazing lenses to use for the XD-11 (MD lenses)

Will the Vivitar 283 Flash work with this camera?

When taking a long exposure or using the self-timer it advises to shut the View Finder with the lever. So I find the correct exposure in M or A mode and then shut the View Finder and take the photo, correct?

Would love an explanation of how to use the Depth of Field preview.

How can I remove the straps from the camera and put my own one on? The leather is ripping and I want to replace it. Here's a picture for reference: http://i.imgur.com/bIFD3wW.jpg

Wow, sorry for all the questions, need all the help I can get! Thank you so much.

 11.
whats the difference between MD 50/2.0 Lens vs MD Rokkor 50/1.4 other than the aperture? the guy who sold me the camera also has that lens for sale

 12.
hey everyone i decided to get the XD-11 with a MD 50/2.0 LENS from ebay for about $100 i think i got a great deal.
i'm very excited to start shooting with this camera and my only question now is what 35mm MD lens should i focus on getting and what is the average price i should pay for one? technically i do not need one since i have a 35mm MC lens, but i would like to use shutter-priority mode with a 35mm lens

 13.
another question:
do you know if the SRT-101 TTL meter is similar to the XD-11 meter? on the the SRT-101 the meter is on the right side of the view finder and you match a needle to the inside of a circle.

 14.
i also have my eye on this one

 15.
the lenses i have for the minolta srt-101 are:

MC W.Rokkor-hg 1:2.8 f=35mm

MC Rokkor-PF 1:1.7 f=55mm

from what i understand, since these are MC lenses, i can only do aperture-priority mode / manual mode, but not shutter-priority? so if i get a MD lens i could use ALL the cameras functions properly without needing to switch back and fourth between lenses, i assume. and talking about manual mode with the MC lens, this means i could basically use the camera how i use the srt-101... just match the TTL meter and shoot away, correct?

which 35mm lens should i focus on getting for the XD-11?

regarding my photos coming out fuzzy.. my dad even used the camera (he would take great photos in the 70s with it!) and the pictures did not come out well. i feel like there might be a light leak in the camera. i paid $120 for it to be serviced in the past and the mirror still will stick when taking a photo. the srt-101 is amazing but it has failed me too many times so i would like to put it on the shelf for a while and test out a new camera. i have decided the Nikons are far to expensive for me as of right now so XD-11 is on radar on ebay. i just pray i do get a fully functioning one.

i have my eye on this XD-11 from ebay, do you guys think i should snag it?

thank you soooo much for your help thus far guys, ever reply has really helped me in some way.

 16.
disclaimer: i am open to other suggestions of cameras, but these two seem to be the most likely for me, so far.

currently i have the minolta srt-101 and it's great but the pictures aren't exposing correctly. it's not me because i had my dad (it's his camera) test it out and got the same results. nothing looks crisp and the focus is never right. another issue is the mirror would get stuck when taking photos, and not just in the cold. it happened in africa as well. (had a picture of a lion ready to go and it locked up. horrible feeling)
i want a few features on my next camera that i had on the srt-101:
-long exposure
-self timer
-ability to take double exposure
bonus:
-aperture priority
-shutter priority
-mirror lock up
the cameras i had in mind so far are:
-canon ae-1 program
-minolta xd-11
-nikon fm2 (except they go for around $400 on ebay!)
i would love to know your thoughts on the best one to go with, and which other ones to consider. i do have a minolta so perhaps getting another minolta would be a good idea because i have two lenses for it already.
i plan on shooting skateboarding from time to time (not my main focus) so if i require a camera that goes past 1000 shutter speed then please let me know.

i'm trying to spend no more than $150 on a camera with a lens
thank you!
