1.
Hi Tom,
In the family photograph attached, no one's face appears to be in focus, we are all heavily affected by highlights and shadows, the parents and family members behind us are not clear, nor are they even looking towards the camera. The brides right eye is one giant black blob. We have been posed in unflattering positions.

The majority of images we were supplied with appear to be taken from too far away, do not have the subject (the people) in focus, posing was poorly arranged (the family shoot is a prime example - two people in wheel chairs and we were lined up on the stairs, which is totally different to the way in which they arrange their families for their family photography they also do); there are no images of the bride in the car, or with the car, no images of the back of the dress, no images of the groom with his family aside from the ones on the stairs; no portraits of bride and groom looking towards the camera. There are no portraits of the bride and groom with their pets, who were present. Photographs with the family and bridal party were rushed, and we feel no thought or creativity went into them.

The images all appear washed out and discoloured (white shirts are blue, blush pink dress is yellow or bright white), many appear over or underexposed. They have had the same grainy filter applied to all of them, as though there batch processed in Lightroom or similar with an action applied to all of them. No individual editing has taken place on the images. Images print terribly - the "Paper" texture that has been applied badly impacts the printability of the images.

Contract states that the photographers shoot in a "highly stylised and photojournalistic" style, which is why we selected them, however I do not believe that should be a way out of bad photography - stylised and photojournalistic or not, they were there to photograph a wedding, and there are certain shots which should be provided, without the bride and groom having to specifically direct them, particularly when these sorts of images are present in their portfolio.
On the day of our wedding, the photographers (there were two - a married couple) barely spoke to us, provided very little direction, and what direction they did provide was unimaginative and lacklusture. Since the wedding, the male photographer has been unhelpful, obstructive, rude and demeaning to us. This behaviour is totally opposite to what we observed when we had our engagement shoot with them - we were provided with direction, we explored the grounds of our wedding venue, and the photos still came out looking candid and natural, whilst also being portrait photography.

I hope this helps - I know that was a lot of information and I appreciate you responding.
Thank you again,

Nadia

 2.

Moderator Note: Thread moved from ImagePro Forum

Hi,
I've been supplied with wedding photos that are substandard in my opinion, and I am seeking another professional to review them, and provide their opinion on the images. This dispute is with Australia, and is currently going through an administrative process for compensation.
An example of the weddding photos is available in the portfolio. I note that I have contractual permission to share images in this way, and am declining to name the photographers as I have no interest in damaging their professional reputation, I just want my dispute resolved so we can all move on from this.
Any help or suggestions would be enormously appreciated.

Thank you

Nadia

Moderator Note: Image removed.
