  1. Thanks for all your comments. Fred, you are right there is a de-humanizing factor on this type of portrait, but this is what I seek for in this type of sessions. In the case of female models, I want to de-sexualize their nudes to focus on the geometry of their bodies, so I have to instruct them to behave as stones and keep away from the erotic-minded body language they trend to be requested. In the case of the subject of this photo, I just followed the same scheme, regardless he is a man. On the other hand, while on other kind of portraits I do ask the model to show emotions and try to take them up, I believe that capturing the inner essense of the person being subjected in a photograph is the utmost challenge a portrait photographer can face; and I acknowledge that this is too high for my current skills.
