<p>Thank you all for your incredibly helpful responses. I will upgrade the camera body. The 7200 is about $400 more than the 7100. But, as evidenced by my still using the D80, I'd likely hold onto the new body for a while, so I don't mind the additional $$ if it is worth it. Is it your sense that the 7200 is worth the additional $$?<br> Again, I really appreciate your collective wisdom!</p>

<p>I was wondering if anyone has experience comparing the results of Nikon's 1.4 50 mm lens, as compared to the 1.8 50 mm lens for shooting hockey shots. I have been using my 1.8 50mm lens for years to take pictures of my son's hockey games. It does reasonably well, but sometimes it cannot stop the action as well as I would like. I am contemplating purchasing a faster lens. Do you think I would take appreciably better pictures with a lens that is only slightly faster?<br> I use a Nikon D80. If it would make more sense to upgrade my camera, I'm open to doing that instead.<br> thanks much!</p>
