1.
Clive...I agree with your observation. I have been putting photos on Ebay for years using a cheap point and shoot and have found that poor quality photos are often the difference between a "sale" or "no sale". All of the Ebay instructional forums advocate taking quality photos to enhance your chances of enticing the buyer to spend his money. That is why, I decided to upgrade to a DSLR and joined this forum. I have ultimately purchased a Nikon D3300 from Adorama along with a light box setup. Now, I can begin the journey to climb the learning curve and hopefully get to the point where I can take quality photos not only for my Ebay work but other areas of interest as well. Again, thanks to all of the fine folks who offered advice. It was greatly appreciated.

 2.
I want to thank all of you for your input. I did as you suggested and went out and tried both cameras. I decided on the D3300. I hope that I can use this entry level choice as a stepping stone to learn the craft and someday achieve a high level of skill. My inspiration was my father who was a graphic arts teacher and a pro with speed graphics and Yashica twin lens reflex cameras. He was pretty darn good in the darkroom as well. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to all !!!

 3.
Thanks to all of you for responding. You are all correct...I have definitely gotten enough input to figure out what I may need and I have probably been over thinking this whole thing. Bottom line is that I am buying an entry level DSLR that will do everything I want to do from product photos for Ebay to general photography where I can use the camera to learn and advance my skills. When I get to a point where I think I can do better with an upgrade, then, I will charge ahead (no pun intended). I do have one final question...what is the difference between a consumer kit lens like the Nikkor VR11 and a pro lens like you guys might use? Thanks again

 4.
Thanks Dieter...sorry for the repeat queries...I thought that the Canon forum was for Canon enthusiasts and might shed a different viewpoint from the Nikon site. My Bad !!

 5.
Thanks guys...One more question. Does the 3200 or the 3300 have a manual built in flash that you can shut off if you don't want it or is it totally automatic? (I.E. if using a light box with studio) lights.....maybe you don't want the camera to flash)

 6.
So...with the included consumer grade VR11 lenses...I'll probably get the same sharpness and quality results? By the way...these lenses are Nikkor VR11...are they plastic? Is that what differentiates them from a professional Nikon lens

 7.
Thanks Shun...I realize that these entry level cameras and lenses will have their limitations but I am hoping that I can use these as a learning tool to advance my skill to the point that I would feel comfortable investing in more professional equipment. I know that for Ebay purposes, probably any entry level will work. That being said, do you agree with Peter that I would be better off getting the most current technology (therefore 3300 over the 3200) or am I just as well off with the cheaper camera. I can afford either one....by the way, I looked at your and Dieter's portfolios on Tennis and Wildlife and all I can say is ....Wow!!!

 8.
Hi...does anyone care to offer an opinion on which is the better option...The Canon T5 or the Nikon D3300?
I am trying to make a buying decision and am having trouble deciding. Thanks

 9.
Thanks Sam....But what about the world beyond Ebay product photos...wouldn't the D3300 be worth the extra 100 bucks to get the bigger image sensor at 24.6? Or....would the images taken by either camera be the same in quality? As stated previously, I am not going to just limit myself to ebay...I want to use the camera for all of my general photo needs like landscape; portraits.. etc etc etc....

 10.
I'll check it out Dieter.....Thanks for letting me know!!!

 11.
Thanks Matthew...I searched and actually found that Nikon offers the best deal. The D3300 body; an 18-55mm VR11 lens; A 55-200mm VR11 Lens; a wireless adaptor and a camera bag for 499.00 with free shipping. I guess that this is OK (I'll still have to buy a memory card)

 12.
Guys...we kind of got off the subject here. We went from comparing the 3200 to the 3300 to a discussion of lighting. I realize that lighting will be (and is ) important when photographing products to be shown for sale. I just need your advice on the best entry level DSLR camera for the money in my 350 to 425 dollar price range for shooting the product photos and for adding lenses in the future for other types of shoots. My impression is that after reading all of the great input you have provided, that the general consensus is the Nikon D3300 rather than the Canon T5 or the D3200. By the way, I hope that I can some day achieve the level of expertise that I see in you folks. You are awesome!

 13.
I guess I'll go with the DSLR. I like the fact that I can add lenses and do more creative things other than ebay work....besides...It's probably more important to worry about how to properly light and display the product since Ebay really only worries about the size of the photo (768x1024). Now...to just figure out which Entry Level in the 350 to 425 price range. The Rebel T5; The Nikon D3200 and the D3300 all fall in that parameter. The Nikon body feels a little "cheap" when I looked at it...I haven't seen the T5 yet. The search is on !!! Thanks for your input guys...I really appreciate it.

 14.
The Fujifilm X10 is about 100 dollars more than the NikonD3300 or the Canon Rebel T5. I am not sure I see your reasoning here. Is the Fujifilm that easier to use justifying the higher price?

 15.
Thanks Matthew. Is there a lot of difference between the D3200 and the D3300? There are some pretty good deals out there on the 3200 (multiple lenses and such)
