1.
Just bought an A70 magazines and some 70 mm PXP bulk film rolls. I have been using A12 and bulk loading 35 mm films so I pretty much figured out how to load the A70 and get the magazine onto my 503CX. The first two or three exposures went flawless, however, I noticed the cocking started to become a little stiff and all of sudden, the film advance indicator did not turn white any more after the shutter cocking indicator turned white after a normal full winding turn (I could see the winding key on the magazine rotating when cocking). So the shutter could not be released any more. I took off the magazine and cut the exposed portion of film off and developed it. Things looked normal.

Later I played this a little bit. When this “film advance indicator stay red” problem occured, the magazine was taken off the camera and the shutter was triggered (normally). Then the magazine (with a red film advance indicator) was attached back to the camera (with a red shutter cocking indicator) and the cocking procedure was repeated. I could see the winding key on the magazine rotating (so film was advancing, and at that moment I thought it would leave a blank frame on the film). Now both indicators turned white and the shutter could be released normally, but it quickly went back to where the problem began of the problem as described above. What turned interesting was that, after the film was developed, there were no blank shots in between the normal exposures even though multiple cocking turns were made in between two exposures. So I assume the problem could be the film advancing gear on camera could not engage/propel the gear on the magazine side well enough and it could probably deliver half of the rotation or less per full cranking. Am I diagnosing the problem correctly? If so how can it be fixed? Thanks!
