I watched this big boy climb the tree to munch on the leaves. His tail

was so long it was still touching the ground!

This image has won several competitions for me in the past. Curious to

see what my esteemed peers think....

This Ladybug is crawling on a leaf covered in Galls. I'm not sure what

kind of insect gall these red ones are, but a gall isn't exactly an

egg or a cocoon, but like both. It's a protective shell in which the

insect hibernates, transforms and sometimes replicates...which can

take months to years depending on the insect.

Thanks for that amazing critique, Holger!  I have the entire encounter! It took about 20 minutes before this gull even allowed any other gull near his "catch". Actually, the fish was washed up or someone threw it in the water before the gull and I found it. Very funny bird! I'm glad you like this image.

Appreciate your comments and advice...thinking of entering this in an

international competition.

This was taken with a Canon Powershot sx 30 (now obsolete), handheld

in auto mode with lens full out. I've tried using the manual settings

but the cam seems to like the auto for my moon shots. Magnified beyond

150x, you can easily see the noise from being handheld. For what it's

worth, I think it's a decent shot for a lunartic like me!!

This is what we expect in New England...snow covered trees and a few

inches on the ground...it's pretty, we can still drive in it, we don't

need generators. Like last year!!
