Peonies and ants have a symbiotic relationship. As the ant eats the tender the bud, it's saliva "melts" the waxy outer covering, allowing it to unfurl it's petals of beauty.
This was taken near Santa FE, NEw Mexico when I was visting newly transplanted relatives several years ago. It's a Black jumping spider on a colorful flower.
A little jack rabbit sat in the grass nibbling grass and clover a mere 15 feet from where my family was having a barbeque. This guy wasn't phased by noise of any kind. What sent him into the bushes was our Sophie, a goofy Gloden Retriever!
