So I mainly use Fuji Mirrorless. Like it a lot. However, for soccer, which I have to shoot a fair amount of, it's simply insufficient. I have a 70-200 VR II on the way. Need a body to use it on. I am pretty sure I am going to want to use the TC-20E III with it. I have considered a whole bunch of different bodies. My penny pinching self thinks the D300s or D600. I am concerned about AF performance and additionally, for the D600, I know i'd be using the crop mode a fair amount of the time - which means I could crop very little - or such I would imagine with only 10MP to play around with.
The less penny pinching side of me thinks the D7200, D750, or D800. The d800 over the d750 because of the additional MP I'd get in crop mode. So I guess have some questions which if anyone would like, I'd love to hear some input on.
- Subject Isolation (ie limited DOF) of Full Frame, in crop mode or not - how much of a difference does it provide over crop mode? I guess I'm into real life. Is there a noticeable difference in the amount you can blow out the background DX vs FX?
- Color Range/Tonality - do colors really pop a ton more FX vs DX?
- From what I can tell, FX vs DX will give you about 1 to 1.5 stops of ISO performance improvement. It seems sort of stupid to me to have shelled out for the VR II 2.8 and then cripple myself backward the 1-2 stops I gained on the big lens by going DX? Does going into crop mode affect this all that much, if at all?
- Are the 3500/4800 CAM AF systems that much different for non-low-light situations? Is there massive improvement in performance for how well you hold onto a subject comparing something like the D300s vs D7200 or D600/D800 vs D750? I am more interested in the % of keepers you seen an increase in. A 30% increase for me is big. The 5-7% increase, not so much.
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much,
