1.
Same problem after updating firmware. I'm at a loss. I used the Lexar 8G. I'm going to move onto some of the other suggestions.

 2.
Thanks so much you two. I'm going to charge the batteries and try the firmware trick. I read a lot of warnings about how the camera can be disabled if the battery runs out or if you try to click the shutter or ... whatever. I'm searching locally for another photographer who will let me test a middle ground speed card, say, 400. I would be willing to take back the fast ones and replace them with a slower. I would eventually like to update by gear but right now, with the level of photography I do, the old 5D is about right for me. Again, thanks for the advice gentlemen. I check back in after I've tried some of it.

 4.
This is some of the best advice I've had so far Marcus, though a lot of it is over my head. I'm going to have to look up DMA mode. They are different brands. One Lexar, which I've always used. One SanDisk. I bought the SanDisk as a different brand on purpose after having trouble with the first. I have reformatted several times in my camera. I didn't know you could do it on a computer. I'll have to look that up too. My firmware is the correct version but I've heard that reinstalling it sometimes helps. Sounded a bit complicated so I wanted to rule out other ideas first. I know a guy with a 5D about the same age, so that's a good idea, but would you recommend the firmware trick first? Thanks so much.

 5.
I hope you can see this photo but I'm trying to find out what's causing these weird lines on my images. They happen on my two new CF cards, both pretty fast. (One is 800x. The other says 120 MB/s). My older cards, 80x, don't have a problem. Seems to happen both in raw and jpg. I shoot with a 5D.
Like I said, I hop you can see the photo. Not sure if I'm doing this right. I joined just to participate in forums like this.
http://www.photo.net/photo/18062871
