Two wonderful couples with beautiful weddings that made this hard work called wedding
photography worth the effort for me.

I'm feeling a bit stupid right now, but after swapping both SC-17 cables around again,
cleaning contacts again I have one that works now. The second one still does not work
with the D70, but does work ok with my SB-28 and F100! I won't ask. I'll just be happy
that the D70 is up.
Thanks to all,
Scott

No TTL BL mode, power zoom on flash is also defeated, reverts to manual, shutter press
won't even wake flash from standby. What gives?
And I've tried two different SC-17 cords, same thing.
The SB-800 works fine in every way when on the D70 shoe. Is there a new cable that offers
FULL functionality for D70/SB-800 COMBO?

You might be left with only 21" and larger CRT as an option before too long.
Here is some info-note the date. Google Sony to cease CRT production-this is very old
news. Hitachi and Mits as well.
"Sony has decided to cease production of 17 and 19-inch CRT displays by March 31, 2002
and will only manufacture 21 and 24-inch CRT displays," according to a statement issued
by Sony in response to questions by ExtremeTech.

I have the manual Tamron SP 90mm 2.5 and have used it for years on my FM2, it's
practically glued to it. It's an INCREDIBLY sharp lens and was a steal when I bought it used
5 years ago for $160.00. I spose if there's ANY downside is that its not 1:1. But I've got a
PN-11 for that stuff :^)
-
It's NOwhere close to the F100; build, speed, AF, flash sync, viewfinder, etc., etc. But its a
great digital SLR, even at 2+ years old. I wouldn't pay any more than $1200.00, especially
for a demo. On the other hand, try not to rule out the D70.

I can't understand the popularity and/or the recommendation of the Metz flashes for any
camera, let alone the D70.
Forget that garbage and just get the SB-800. It works very nicely with the D70, and is
worth the $350.00.
-
If $3499.95 is accurate, it's overpriced by at least $2000.00. I have an S2 and a D70.
Bought the S2 gently used at $1400.00 a year ago, the D70 just 2 months old. I love the
S2, but in more ways than one, the D70 is a superior camera. No way in my view is the S3
worth more than $1500.00-1600.00 max.
-
I can't speak for the HP, but I purchased a 2200 4 months ago for US $610.00 shipped
(Amazon).
Worth every penny, an amazing printer.
-
Purge your angst and get the D70 now. Nikon nailed it with this little camera. WELL worth
$1000.00.
-
Used F100 or F5. Plenty of F5s well below $1000.00, and F100s I'm seeing in the $600
-700 range locally on Craigslist. Check KEH though.
-
Optically it's beautiful, and the fixed f2.8 is a big plus of course. Everything else about it
sucks.
But I can't seem to part with it.

The Tamrac Super Pro 14 (model 614) claims to fit the 17" Powerbook. It's also their
largest shoulder bag.

If you can't swing the Eizo, the Apple is a safe bet. Otherwise go with the Sony Artisan.
Personally, if I couldn't swing the Eizo ColorEdge 21" or similar, I'd skip the LCDs and go
straight to the Artisan, for now anyway.
Shadow detail is where the CRTs still reign, from what I see. Not to mention a significant
price difference. $3000.00 vs. about $1500.00.

Shoot RAW.

Forget the SD-8A, go with Energizer Lithiums.
In the long term, the Quantum Turbo is a very worthwhile investment.

After hearing the many recommendations here, I picked up Real World Adobe Photoshop
CS, by David Blatner and Bruce Fraser. Fantasticly comprehensive, deep as you want to go,
and they make it interesting to read.

Try and stick with Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme series, or the 40x+ Lexar cards.
Reformat the card in the camera, not from the reader. Let the reformat "delete" all files
from card.
-
Take a look at EIZO. By many accounts, they are the best LCD available.

I do the same with my Fuji S2. It's such a no-brainer being that I know the sole Frontier
operator at the local Long's, it's less than a mile away, the prints(4x6) are $0.29 ea. -- I
mean, I love my 2200, but this Frontier gig is real tough to beat. Frankly, If I had to pay
$0.50-$0.60 ea., I'd still feel the same way. The fact that it's so cheap and yields such nice
results(9 times out of 10), it's just pure fun going digital.
-
Yes, it's worth the money. Stick to Ultra II or Extreme series with Sandisk. They are
faster writing, but don't take my word for it-see the database.
-
I have the 28-105 and the 35-70 Nikkors. Although the range on the 35-70 is limited, I
see a very noticeable improvement in sharpness over the 28-105 when used with my S2. I
would let the 28-105 go in a heartbeat.
-
The AF-S 28-70 2.8D is easily the winner here, and in every other category. It of course
costs a heck of a lot more too. My only wish would be that Nikon had made it 24-70.
-
I don't see the purpose of the D100 at this point. Unless it drops lower in price than the
D70.
