9.
I think it is a large modifier (softbox) above the object - a little to the right. On the left is certainly a reflector to fill the shadows. The white base/table is working as a reflector too.

You can get this look by using only one light + reflectors.

 10.
The shadow lines are not quite parallel. The further the light source is away, the parallel shadow lines gets. So I suspect a flashlight/strobe/Other light source was used. Plus a fog machine or lots of dust ;-)

 11.
Have you ever concerned about highspeedsync?
As Craig Shermann said: speedlights can do a realy good job outside - especially when used in hightspeedsync.
When using a (gasoline) generator you have noise and sometimes stinks on set. In addition, the device has to be moved.. Alternatively you can use an AV converter to get power from a car's power socket.

 12.
I like the look and your image! Maybe the light should be a bit more evenly on the side of the face. The stobes should be quite perfekt parallel (imho). If your old elinchrom is to powerfull, you can use neutral density filters to get your light a few stepps down.. but I suspect that will not be enough.
I personally like clean backgrounds an would choose a position off the rods. (pixelpeeping ;-)

Good luck for your shooting next week!

 13.
Light the background and the object separately. The foreground light should not effect the background. More space between should help. Ubrellas for a even bg light is ok.

 14.
Hello out there,
there is a new product on the market, called the "bigger picture cards". This deck of cards are inspiration and assignment cards for (so called) photography enthusiasts... The deck includes 10 knowledge cards and 40 task cards - The combination of the two cards is a photo challenge to complete.
What do you think about such a product? Helpfull or not? Does such flashcards get you out shooting in new and exciting ways?
I'm curious about your opinion!
Greetings

Kilian
