1.
No Andy, getting the Nikon here from India will cost me Euro 55.00 and I might have to pay to the post office here as did my friend. Besides, I can get a used camera for Euro 80.00 (which I have already purchased). Combined with my temptation to get into film, I think it will be good to invest in a used camera!

 2.
Thanks all,
Your advices have been very helpful. I have finally decided to go with the Minolta Autocord because 1. I am looking for a complete system without interchangeable lens and other things 2. I got a deal for 75 Euros of a good working piece. 3. The lens with the Portra 160 film is just what I am looking for.
Can you let me know how much does a normal CLA take? Is there a fixed cost for these things thx.
Best regards,
Azaan

 3.
Thanks for the reply John! Very helpful.
I will ask the seller what is the year of manufacture for the Autocord. He says its in excellent condition with very light signs of wear.
The ETRC has a metered prism. Mostly I will be using the Tripod.
I am already over my budget with the TLR, wondering if the Bronica will give me any advantage.

 4.

"focus more on what YOU WANT,"

Dear JDM,
What I want is an inexpensive entry into the world of Film & Medium Format while at the same time have it work for many more years to come.
I initially wanted the DP3 Merill but due to unexpected events, I had to cut down my original budget, now I will get some more money from insurance by the start of May and then able to reinstate my budget to half of the original budget for the camera alone.
If the Minolta didn't have the focus lever problem, I would have gone with them but just wanted to check if the Bronica is a better option...

Dear Leszek,
I know a place here that repairs old SLRs but I will ask if they repair MFs.
Thanks for your comments..

 5.
Thank you Stephen,
I am a student and budget is of concern for me. Naturally I am towards the Minolta Auto cord...
I have heard the focus lever problem with the Minolta. Did you have the problem with the Minolta? The Minolta is in excellent condition as per the seller. While the Minolta goes in some places for as low as Euro 100.
The Bronica is at a good price point since it generally goes for $300 and I am getting it for $200. This is why I am tempted.
Just wanted to know if optically one is good over the other.

Does 6 by 6 offer advantages over 6 by 4.5 ? Obviously a larger negative is better but at 8-12MP scans, will this be difference, if any, be noticable?
Many thanks,
Azaan

 6.
Hi All,
This is my third post in the website on Film Cameras, although a lot of people have helped me here my initial choices changed really fast due to their advices as well as the items being purchased off by others. Not to mention some consulting fees I had to pay that really pulled down my initial budget.
So an excellent condition Minolta Auto Cord 6 by 6 going for 150 Euro seems a great choice so does a good condition Bronica ETRC with prism view finder & 75mm f/2.8 lens at 200 Euros!
I am interested in going with the Minolta but I have heard about the focus lever problems.
I have checked the forum and the advices seem to insufficient for me to opt for TLR over 645 or the other ways round. Is there any particular advantage of one over the other.
I am looking for a complete package. I will not be spending on extra lens at any point of time in the future.
Is the Autocord or the Bronica at a good price relative to the market price these go for?
Thanks in advance,

 7.
The Mamiya m645 apparently is used heavily and not fully tested and Agfa 6by9 is sold.
So comes back to Bronica ETRC with prism VF and 75 f/2.8 lens at Euro 200.00
Another camera that I find this forum to love is a Minolta Auto cord going for Euro 150.00
Since, niether of these are rangefinders, I wish to discontinue the discussion in this forum and move it to Medium format.
Once again thanks all for your help and suggestions.
Best regards,
Azaan

 8.
Hmmm.. thanks Jochen. Your experience is immense, I must say.
You have been of great help from start on.
There is a Bronica ETRC and a Mamiya 645 both used and with lens and 120 film back, going for 200 Euros.
I am really wondering if its worth the investment over the Agfa Record II. I have decided to completely stick to landscapes, city scapes etc.
Many thanks in advance,
Azaan

 9.
Ok, so the Bronica is already sold, just that the Seller forgot to remove it from his website.
So, I am now with the Agfa Record II.
Also, I have found a 'fully tested' Zorki 4 35mm with Industar 50/2.8 for about 85 Euros with shipping charges.
I am just reading about the Zorki, but your inputs would be much appreciated.
Thanks again,
Azaan

 10.
Thank you guys,
I had to pay up for a couple of things for college and re-adjust my budget. So now I am looking at stuff below 100 Euros with everything included.
Although I am tempted by a Bronica ERT that's going for Euro 200.
Regards,

 11.
I am overwhelmed by your responses. Thank you. I am therefore not interested in the Bessa L anymore. Only considering the Agfa among the 2.
I am thinking if doubling my budget is worth it.
I also found a deal here for Euro 200 - Zenza Bronica ETRC + 2.8 / 75mm lens 6x45 + metered prism finder that I am planning to bargain for a little less
Do you think this is a better deal?

Thanks again,
Azaan

 12.
I cannot use E-bay like I mentioned earlier but the Rollei 35 & the Canonet QL 17 both are outside my price range. I cannot find the Yashica either but I shall try other camera stores?
Do you think I should go for a Medium format or 35mm?

The Velvia 50 costs twice as much for Medium Format... and conversion cost for a 36 roll is 12 Euro while for one single negative of MF is 4.5 Euros! That is a lot of money....

Looks like what I will be saving by purchasing the Agfa, I will eat them up in PP costs!

 13.
Thanks Lex, I already know most of what you have said, but
1.I can't use E-bay yet due to my credit card being pre-paid, which Paypal doesn't recognize.
2. I am not looking at SLRs because I already have a DSLR.
3. The other cameras generally come at around this level of pricing if not 20 euros lesser at most.
Regards,

 14.
Dear All,
I am in the market for a film camera and confused between the above 2, both of them going for Euro 75.00 (Student Budget)

The Agfa is MF and in good condition though I am yet to receive answers on specifics from the seller since its an aged camera.

The next is the Bessa L which as per the seller is in excellent condition but this is only the camera body at Euro 75 and I will need to invest in glass ( looking at the Industar 61, 50mm f/2.8) and a viewfinder that together will cost me as much as the camera itself with shipping.

I am interested in taking mostly landscape photography and at times a bit of street & Macro. I am buying without testing since its an online shop in Nederlands.

Your advice(s) will be immensely appreciated!

Thanks,
Azaan
