    Dark Venice

          4

Exploring Venice at night, I fell in love with the look of this

corner; in the gloomy, dark atmosphere, it feels as if it can be the

location of many untold stories. It took quite a while to take the

photo, waiting for a moment when no people are in the frame, using

relatively long exposure time. There is no post-processing.

    STRIKING

I am always very interested by photos of abandoned structures that nature "reclaims", so this gallery folder immediately drew my attention. And this picture is my favorite from this series! The colors are wonderful - the sky against the earth works beautifully, and you get a lot of dynamic range there - especialy the clouds give the picture a lot of atmosphere. The camera-angle is very, very interesting; to me, the waggon seems to approach the viewer, and "disappears" into nature in the background. A strong photo that I really like!

  1. I got drawn to this image instantly. Both the framing as well as the colors complement each other very well - the contrast between reddish and greenish works excellently. I don't feel that the neon lights on the left are out of place - the shine they emit feels very interesting, and is an interesting element breaking up the otherwise near-perfect symetry.

  2. A very good, very interesting photo. I like the bench in the middle, surrounded by plants, the lake and the house - it seems to be alone, yet the image is also crowded by all the plants surrounding it. That combination of solitary bench and crowded surroundings framing it works very well for me, I like the photo a lot. Also, the infrared-film produces some very interesting effects with the greyscale - I feel it gives the picture a slightly surrealist look. Well done!

    Hidden Abyss

          1

A gaping hole in the middle of the desert leads 300 feet below ground

in a vertical mine shaft from the late 19th century. A truly hidden

abyss. Thank you in advance for your comments :)

    Rusty Kitchen

A 1950s refrigerator in an abandoned wooden house in the desert. The

walls around it collapsed, only parts of the house are still

standing... Thanks in advance for your comments!
