<p>Great, thank you all. This is really helpful. I didn't find the 17-55 limited on the wide side yet, so I'll start with that lens in Asia. I might pop in to a Canon shop in KL to find something wider when I have the need for a wider lens. Maybe I even rent one to try the coming weekend.<br> For the zoom lens, I do not use the 70-200 that often and while being non-IS, it is still a big lens in the bag. I really like the alternative coined by Dieter to go with the 85/1.8 instead. So that'll make 17-55/2.8, 24/1.4 and 85/1.8. My 17-55 will be the wide lens or the one I'll put on in unknown situations while I can use the 24 en 85 for 'special' work. The 85 will work out nice for low light shots during the afternoon/night wedding, where the 70-200 won't work without flash.</p>

<p>Hi there,<br> I am going for a two week trip to Thailand and Malaysia next week and I am currently thinking about what lenses to bring along. I am going to take photos of various scenes like an afternoon island wedding, streets in Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian highlands (nature). As we will be walking a lot I want to travel light. I own the following lenses (all Canon). </p> <ul> <li>17-55 f/2.8</li> <li>70-200 f/4</li> <li>24 f/1.4 II</li> <li>50 f/1.8 I </li> <li>85 f/1.8</li> </ul> <p>What would you think would be the best combination if I take 3 lenses?
