<p>Noise increases file size because makes the image less uniform. <br />Let's take a 100% white image. If it has noise, will not be so well compressed as JPG or ZIP<br /><br />I still didn't understand if noise is the same in 5Ds vs 7Ds at, let's say, ISO 12800. If they are the same that the low ISO it's a market strategy.<br /> And also, what about the LARGE format? They also have lower ISO, why is that? Maybe is the same reason? Maybe higher ISO requiers more processing power or something?<br /> PS<br />Of course the two cameras have different purposes.</p>

<p>Thank you for all your answers.<br /> So Bob in conclusion, are we certain that the noise at 6400ISO on 5Ds is the same with 6400ISO on 7D mk II?<br /><br />Still one unanswered question remains, why the large format has also very low maximum ISO?<br /><br />PS<br />Personally I would like to have Lower ISOs like 25 and 12 and 6 :) but without sacrificing the higher ISO of course.<br />ND filters lower the image quality a lot and you can't see what you're shooting.</p>

<p>If that is true than it means that 6400 ISO on 5Ds would be the same quality as 6400 ISO on 7D II.<br />And even more interesting the H1 ISO on 5Ds would be the same quality as 12800 ISO on 7D II. :)<br /><br />Might not be just marketing. The large formats also have low maximum ISOs.</p>

<p>Canon EOS 5Ds full frame sensor has the pixels' size almost the same size of the 7D II crop sensor. <br />So if the phisycal pixel size of the two cameras it's almost the same, why 5Ds has only 6400ISO and 7D has 16000ISO. <br /><br />What am I missing here?<br /><br /><br> ------------------------------<br />All the best,<br />Dragos<br /
