<em>"I am tired however of hearing "professional"photographers whining about the "so called professional photographers" with the $400 DSLR with $200 blah hlah and etc...and complain that they give a bad name to the field of photography. Get real. The only difference between a "professional" wedding photographer and say a "weekend photographer" is that the weekend photographer has another job during the week." as per your reply.</em><br>

That is like saying there is no difference between a doctor that does heart transplants and one that works in a MORGUE as both are capable of removing the heart from somebody--I will take my chances with the doctor that does the transplants as there is a far greater chance that I will live to see another year(s) than the one in the morgue--will they even bury the heart with the corpse but this I guarantee you--you will not live another mili-second.<br>

As for the "weekend photographer" they simply make the potentcial client aware that you are lucky if you get what one paid for but at the same time drives more work to the actual professional that makes his living in this field of business.<br>

<a href="http://www.professionalphotography101.com/">http://www.professionalphotography101.com/</a> Am I or any other professional afraid of the week ender taking business from us--not a chance in h---- of that. <br>

As per your statement, <em>we are afraid of Changes </em> WRONG as most professionals belong to groups such as Professional Photographers Of America <a href="http://www.ppa.com/findaphotographer/degrees.php">http://www.ppa.com/findaphotographer/degrees.php</a> There are all kinds of seminars and ongoing courses plus most if not all States have a separate branch. The actual professional including those self tought thrive on competition.<br>

One again these are just my thoughts,<br>

You say we are afraid of change--Wrong, we wait for the next challenge and welcome it.</p>

  2. <p><strong>My primary question is about what I perceive as a complete breakdown of client-photographer relationships in the wedding photo business. What has happened over the past ten years?</strong><br>

Live in a larger city and watch the so-called professional photogapher's "For Rent Signs and Forclosure signs" where the photograoher was. They knew it all when they bought an entry level DSLR Kit and were going to strike it rich?<br>

Did they even consider location, equipment, a course in business management let alone a course in photography.<br>

Was it mabe a friend that suggested he/she go into business because the friend liked their work? "So what if it doesn't turn out, I've got Elements 5 and I can fix it, I just got it." When asked if they had taken any courses on editing "Only an ????? would throw money awy an a course like that--its easy"<br>

The old saying "Garbage input equalls garbage output" and I firmly believe that.<br>

<em>The Photographer that knows the limitation of their self and their equipment KNOWS how to shoot a wedding if that is what they are into. They very likely have business training and people management skills and don't take a hissy attack over a client that according to others in the fied say "DEMANDS" more. It won't happen with the actual PROFESSIONAL simply because these items are expained prior to signing a contact that quite often is drawn up by their lawyer. You will sedom see a DSLR Kit being used unless it is a pro series such as a Nikon D700</em><br>

<em>The photographer in the italic text will always be busy</em> The other one won't be as lucky--it is all about respecting LIMITATIONS.<br>

    Just my Personal Thoughts,<br>

  3. <p>What if it means BREAK DOWN or breaks while doing a shoot and you don't know about the problem until you pull the shots up on a computer and 75% of the shots are a disaster because the camera did not function as designed to----Had this been a wedding, who pays the law suit or 100% of the costs of a reshoot.<br>

This includes travel, meals, reception hall and ALL associated costs and the list goes on. f the original cost of the wedding is $30,000.oo---the reshoot will be higher just because of two factors--the hair and make-up stylists are now being paid by you plus the fact that those that were at the original wedding never charged the couple for the time they were there that they lost from not working--this time they will. Insurance is a must when working for others.<br>

  4. Hi,

This past summer I started to scan thousands of train and landscape slides I have taken over the years and my system started to act up.Windows XP Proffessional: Have you you tried (If you system was working OK at an Earlier date and memory is not a problem) ==Start>All programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore> Restore to an earlier Date? That feature alone makes XP worth the money to me. I do know that when I got down to 2.5 Gig memory remaining on C: out of 60 Meg, Photoshop would open, take for ever to open a file over 18 Meg and that was with four 512 memory chips on a 2.8 processor. It does not seem to matter that there was 100 gig free on E Drive I still have an old Nikon F90/Kodak digital that came with Photoshop 4 and a S2 that I use with Photoshop 7. Both versions work very good. In Photoshop under Edit>Preference>Memory..Just make sure that it is not set too high. I was set at 85% and dropped to 75%. Yes, I bought a DVD burner. I never thought I would use 50 Meg for pictures that fast(4 days) using a 4000 series film scanner.

  5. Kelly,

I can contact ANY of the banks any time they are OPEN for business and I do not have to lower my on line security to do business with ANY BANK that I deal with PLUS IF THEY EVER DID BILL ME TWICE--Gues what--It is DAM EASY to contact them and get a credit. I to will NEVER buy anything from anyone USING that payment method that you like that I can not reach by phone or E Mail. I use MAJOR credit cards for both buying and selling--BOTH parties are protected.

  6. How in the hell do you contact PayPal? E Bay sure doesn't help much and I had to lower my security settings to "Medium-Low" from "Medium High" to give out a credit card number--yes I was STUPID. WHY--if anything, it should be higher . JUNK AND SPAM TO NO END I never knew there were so many Viagra sights , porn or credit sights plus Virus detection worked overtime "Virus Detected". EBay did give me a phone number to call but I never did get through. Pardon any spelling mistakes but I am still ticked. The Spam and junk quite likely did not come from any Paypal sight BUT likely was a result of lowering my security level that was a requirement of the sight so as to post credit card numbers.

  7. Hi Bien,

My Contax RTS11 has the same adaptor to use the batteries from the "Contax Professional Winder" that has a battery pack which screws to the winder holding 8 AA batteries to power the camera. There is??/was a cover also available. The corect battery as per the manual is a 6.2 volt silver oxide such as Mallory Mallory PX 28 but 4LR44 6 volt can also be used. The battery cover is odd that it has a tab that flips up so as to remove the battery--it does not have a slot for a coin to turn it. I hope this helps.

  8. Neil.

I have never had this problem with Agfa film, Black and White or any of their colour film. I normally shoot a couple of hundred rolls each of Portra 160 and 400 per year and use six different 120 backs on on three different bodies. I did have it happen about five years ago with T Max. Agaf's glue taste on on that seal does leave something to be desired compared to the other makes.

Do you wind the film and paper of the original spool before inserting the dark slide and the dark slide then could tear the paper. That was one of the dealer's sugestions when I had the problem with TMax. After shooting #12 frame, try inserting the darkslide then winding the film on and removing it.
