1.
I have the Carl Zeiss T* Planar 2.8/80, and I can unmount it from the camera without pressing the lens release button. Has anyone ever experienced this? I can re-mount it with no problem, and when mounted it works fine, but when applying enough torque to the lens (including sometimes moving the focus ring) the lens just comes off of the camera. If anyone's experiences this whats involved in the repair?

 2.
Well to all I do have an update: When I took the negs out of the holder and put them directly onto the scanner glass the scanner performed like it should. I guess it all of a sudden doesn't like my MF holder... Bizarre. And Alan yes I am familiar with the software I've used it in professional mode many many times in the past this issue recently presented itself and I've no idea why does not like my film holder suddenly.

 3.
Charles - Thank you I will try those measures.
Alan - I set it to reflective in order to show the only way the scanner will generate a preview. When set to film transparency it produces the error message on the left. I guess I should have been more clear on that.

 4.
Hey guys-
Yes I'm using a film holder... What is a transparency unit? Theres a power supply and a USB and a 3rd plug that is securely connected at the rear. When I say that I stopped using it I meant that it has literally sat in the same location and configuration that I had it in the last time I used it, and I've don'e a ton of scans w/ it in the past. I attached at pic to the initial post which may shed some light as to what the problem may be.

 5.
Hey All-
So... My 4990 won't scan film (as you can probably tell from the subject of this post), BUT... It WILL scan documents. When I scan film, it won't preview regardless of software (or computer for that matter), and EPSONScan tells me it can't even find an image to preview! Has anyone had this happen to them before? I stopped using the scanner for about a year and then when I go back to use it again this happens. Prior to that I was using it a lot, same methods same practices etc... Do you think its a software issue or the scanner itself is toast?

 6.
Dave-
Thanks for the reply. Yes the split lines up w/ other lenses it seems that professional repair is gonna be the only option at this point. Its not egregiously off but I certainly notice it through the VF.
-Kenny

 7.
So I just picked up a Canon FD 20mm 2.8 (silver ring edition), and haven't developed a roll yet, but through the split screen and ground glass on my AE-1 I don't get infinity focus with it. I know wide-angles typically have deep depth of field but I would still think the split would align regardless of focal length. Any advice? Has anyone encountered this issue and if so what's involved in the repair. I haven't developed any rolls yet as I just got the lens, but I'm guessing this isn't how this lens is intended to operate..........
