1.
Thank you everyone for your resposnes.
As of now, I don't see myself upgrading to a full frame camera anytime soon, and I've decided to just stick with DX lenses for now due to budget and quality in some cases. I am definitely sold on the Sigma mid ranges 17-50mm and 17-70mm, I went on Amazon today to make the purcahse of the 17-70mm and noticed that there are two different types of lenses both by Sigma, and are priced differently one is 100$ than the other. I am assuming one is the older version and one is the newer "C" Contemporary version? Can anyone help clarify this for me? Here are the links:
399$
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZNJB2S/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A23M3KL3V61UGY
499$
http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-884306-17-70mm-F2-8-4-Macro/dp/B00AXZZ034/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421180455&sr=8-1&keywords=sigma+17-70mm&pebp=1421180478506&peasin=B00AXZZ034

 2. I seem to have a mis-conception based on the research I did and old reviews I've read that primes were best for picture quality of it's fixed range. But rather are used for low light situations, but like many of you here suggested, maybe I should wait before purchasing a prime. I guess the more sensible thing to do for a novice like me is to maybe start with the Sigma 17-70mm for now for the versatility and range, and later down the line purchase a zoom lens such as the 70-200mm f4 vr and possibly a ultra wide angle lens such as the Tokina 11-16. I've also heard that Tokina is coming out with a 11-20mm soon that might be even better and may be worth the wait. Thank you all again for the advice and useful criticism.
 3.
Thank you everyone for your responses and your help, I appreciate it. Based on your advice, I will avoid the ultra wide angle lens for now and stick with 2 lenses I feel that every could agree mutually on. As of now, I am leaning toward the Sigma 17-50 and the Prime 35mm Dx lens, my questions is, would it be a bit redundant to purchase these two to start off with since my range would be limited and within the range of 17-50mm? Would that be enough for traveling? I would predict myself using the 17-50 for majority of the time especially outside and the 35mm prime for indoors and evening/night time? Debating between the 16-85 vs the sigma 17-50

 4.
Hello all! I am a beginner to this wonderful hobby and after getting married December of last year, me and my wife decided to go on a travel spree for the next 2 years before we settle down and have kids. With respect to everyone on this forum, I tried to do as much research as I can prior to making this thread, but I will be honest, there is a lot of outdated information(2010-2012) and very little information on RECENT lens information for the Dxxxx format(2014-2015) to me anyway. As a newbie I debated whether to go Full frame or Crop frame as my first camera, but decided to go Crop frame due to budget and being a novice in terms of knowledge ( I can always use this as a backup camera ). With that said, I purchased a refurbished D7100 from Adorama.
After attempting to do some recent research on lenses, I wanted to purchase a set of lenses that would be decent to best quality since I went into this with the thought of paying extra for something high quality than paying a fraction of the price for something that I might upgrade later on. I am 80% sure I will be purchasing a full frame camera in the future but not anytime soon, so lens compatibility between the Dxxxx and Fxxxx frames is a huge bonus. With that said I'm looking to purchase 2-3 lenses right off the bat for all purpose shooting. I will definitely be shooting landscape wide angle shots, Bokeh shots, and mid range portrait photo shots, and possibly with the third lens a all range telephoto lens. My priority however is wide angle lens and portrait/group/bokeh photos. Sorry for the long post, with money not a big issue but not willing to pay hundreds extra for minimal performance, this is what I came up with.
Wide angle Lens: Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 AT-X Pro Dx II
http://www.amazon.com/Tokina-11-16mm-AT-X116-Digital-Cameras/dp/B007ORX8ME/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1421056156&sr=1-1&keywords=Tokina+11-16mm+2.8+AT-X+Pro+Dx+II
Prime Lens: Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S Dx
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-35mm-1-8G-Digital-Cameras/dp/B001S2PPT0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421056641&sr=8-1&keywords=Nikon+35mm+1.8g
Telephoto Lens: Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S VR II Nikkor (Debating if I should get this or the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G Prime Dx lense)
http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-18-200mm-3-5-5-6G-Telephoto-DX-Format/dp/B002JCSV8A/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1421056306&sr=1-1&keywords=nikon+18-200mm+vr+ii+lens
I appreciate your opinion and advice, thank you for taking the time and responding. A million thanks.
