All. Thank you all for your replies. I learned alot about
the Canon FD lineup, and appreciate all the
responses. I ended up picking up a nice conditioned
T90 with an "unexpected" FD 50mm f1.4 SSC lens attached, in
mint condition, for $60.00. (I hope discussing price
does not violate forum rules). I figure the lens is worth
that alone. I only have the f1.8 bayonet version, and i
probably would never have bought the 1.4 outright, so
this will be a nice addition. I hear the 50mm 1.4 is one
of Canon's better FD lens.
The T90 seems in great condition. I have not shot film
yet, but I have fired it quite a few times and so far no
dreaded EEE syndrome. ...although I may have Steve
from Sparks NV give it a once over (CLA) regardless.
For those that mentioned to accessorize my lovely F1
(new), i may just do that....I have always had my eye
on the FD 20-35 f3.5 L.
Now all I need to do is print out the PDF owners
manual at work when the boss is not looking and get
shooting.... :)
Gary.

Lana. Beautiful shot and colours. Makes me want to
get that T90.

Hi everybody. Happy vallentines day...
Need some advice from the forum.....
I have a Canon F1-n (new), with a motor drive, that I can operate blindfolded. I love it for all the F1
greatness. Having said that, I would like to pick up another FD camera body to play around with this year. I
was looking at the A1, but after researching, it seems "similiar" in functionality to the F1. A few articles on
the T90 caught my eye, as the T90 seemed like the canon technology bridge to the EOS series.
Any recomendations?
Thanks all...

Browsing the older posts on this very cold New England night and came across your mention of
the "Optech Hood Hat". I think that will be perfect for my newly aquired Canon FD 400 mm lens.

Got my 80-200 f4 lens back from Steve. Needless to say a fabulous job done. From the time I
mailed it to Steve and received it back was exactly 1 week. He even threw a front lens cap on it
for me. Thanks Steve.

I clicked on posts with no replies..Sorry for coming
late to the thread, almost a year after the post. Very
nice colours bill. I take it by the drop of the sun in the
horizon...from the first to the last shot is what, maybe
15 minutes?
-
Thanks Helen. I will do that.
-
No mention of anything that you list... Only their "Generic" V rating blurb. No pictures either as is
usual with ebay ads. I will email them asking specific questions that u list. Tnx Bill
-
Bill. I believe Adorama has a 30 day money back policy.
It is the Canon FD 400 mm F4.5.
There is one on ebay for about $110.00 more, and
judging by the ratings, albeit a differeny seller so
apples to banana ratings comparison, seems one
notch better...but by no means mint.
I think u own this lens and like it..

Hi all.
I'm lookin at a Canon fd lens from Adorama Camera that has
a "V" rating. The price for this lens seems about $100.0
lower than a "cleaner" lens from ebay. The V rating on their
website is as pasted below. The V rating is probably on the
low/middle end of their scale, with 5 grades higher, and 3
lower.
Does anybody have any experience with Adorama, and their
ratings.
Ideally, I would like to get a lens one "grade better", but the $260.00 price tag seems good . Would you shy away from a lens in the below
"condition".
Thanks all. Gary

Adorama V rating:
Barrel appears well used and may include dings,
scrapes/scratches, heavy brassing. Lens glass may have
marks or haze that should not affect picture quality.

Rick. Glad you mentioned Steve. I have a lens I'm shipping tomorrow to Steve for repair.

Keith. Thanks. The 80-200 f4 l is probably not a wise
choice for a "first timer" repair. I'll practice on that 50
mm beater lens i bought.
-
U da bird and moon man Bill. Very nice as usual.

Exit stage left. Scratch plan B. I think I'm going with
this plan.

I think he is still in business. Just called him an hour
or so ago to fix my canon fd lens...He answered the
phone :)
-
Keith. All u say is spot on. I use the lens on a Canon F1-N (NEW). Any help would be
appreciated. Worst comes to worst, I bought a "beater " 50mm FD lens on ebay....I guess I'll see
what happens when one removes those 3 screws :)
-
Gordon. No. Its a bayonet mount. I think that is the term. You line up the red dot on the lens
and camera and turn the lens about 1/4 turn cw until it locks. Im looking to replace the silver
mating surface on the lens. It looks like its held in place by 3 screws.
-
Hi all. I need to replace the silver lens mount "plate" on my 80-200 mm FD bayonet mount lens. I have an
extra 50mm bayonet mount that I can cannibalize for the replacement plate. There are 3 screws that (seem
to) hold the silver plate onto the lens. Is it as simple as removing the 3 screws, slide the damaged plate out,
slide the good plate back in and replace the screws?
Would there be any "surprises" waiting for me when I remove the 3 screws and pull the plate out?
Thanks for the advice...
Gary.

Mark. Yes it is. I just picked one up a few months
ago. A bit more than $200., but not that
much....Bill C has posted some nice shots with his sony/80-200 combo. Very nice lens
-
Just throwing this out to be different from the
50mm crowd. The canon fd 35-105mm f 3.5 lens.
That was my only lens for many years on my F1.
Not bad for a cheapo lens....

I used to joke with my father in law (who was not the most handy person around the house)....."Mr
B...all u need around here to fix anything is bailing wire, duct tape, and WD-40"...he bought it by the
case !!!
-
I can't believe it....No WD-40 mentioned !! :)
-
Absolutely nice. ..Bill.. the macro shots of the honey bee (save the bees !!!!) and Andres...nice B&W
shots

This is the sort of problem that keeps me awake at
night. And why can't I get Goof Off in the UK?
I yearn for the good old pre-digital days when you
could buy these stickers on a roll, to stick on your
equipment and make it look new and unused.

I just bought a used Canon 2x-b extender. It looks mint.....the sticker that is.
Must be one of your "passed" stickers on a roll. :)

Tony. Thanks for the offer of advice. I will take u up
on it once i use it :). I'm sending it out tomorrow to
Steve for a CLA as yes, he does seem to be the
"National" expert on the t90. I did pick up the 300tl
flash as well as the "E" focusing screen, as it came
with the "D"..cross hatch screen. Seems like the E was
the default t90 screen that came with it.
Until then, I still have my trusty F1...which I plan on
using tomorrow.....Its supposed to be a nice mild day,
for February anyways, here in New England.
Thanks again.
