1.
You're right. I've just gone back into the raw files and there's no evidence of banding. I save from Lightroom 5 to jpeg in CS6. I don't do anything exotic to the images. Levels, curves, exposure.... Any idea what causes this in post processing?
Thanks.
Ray

    Lens Banding

I bought a D810 last month and am concerned about banding that's been showing up on some of the images especially against lighter backgrounds such as the sky and walls. The pelican image was taken with a low cost Nikon 55-200 that my son bought for around $100. I thought that was why the banding ....cheap lens=bad quality photos.
Then I put on my new Tamron 70-200 f/4 (B&H-$1500) and the same banding problem. The pelican was shot with the cheap Nikon 55-200mm at f/5.6 iso 100 and the fellow with the Tamron 70-200mm at f.2.8 iso 100. I'm going to put my Nikon 300mm on it today but I except the same issue in certain shots.
I've tried to make the banning more pronounced with a little contrast adjustment so you can see it better.
I'm really concerned.
Thanks
Ray
https://www.flickr.com/photos/57154423@N00/15530562879/
https://www.flickr.com/photos/57154423@N00/15714530141/
https://www.flickr.com/photos/57154423@N00/15714530181/
