1.
I've got the same problem. My new Nikon 55-200 mm simply is like it's glued on. Did anyone ever figure out the solution to this problem?

 2.
Thanks everyone. I didn't expect so many responses to my question. I've gotten a lot of good advice and I think I will hang on to my film camera and buy a new digital. A lot has changed in 20 years so I've got some research to do. I really appreciate all your help.

 3.
I have an old Minolta XG-1 camera (not digital) with the following lenses: Minolta MD 50mm 1:2; Vivitar 70-150mm macro zoon; Vivitar 28mm wide angle 49mm. I got these about 30 years ago. I haven't done any photography to speak of in 20 years. Now I want to get back it and to buy a reasonably decent camera. Question is are these lenses any good and would it make sense to buy a new Minolta body and use them? A friend at work is encouraging me to ditch the camera/lenses I have now and go with a DSLR mirrorless digital with a fixed lens. I like the heft of my old Minolta. But perhaps it would make more sense to follow his advice. His argument is that the fixed lens camera is easy to carry when I travel and would take as good pictures as the other. What do you think? Thanks for your help.
