Normally I use digital as a sort of modern version of a Polaroid Back

when lightpainting. This "test" just amazed me. Inspired by a shot I

viewed here by Emil Schildt, the photographer who's work inspired me

    to take up lightpainting.

Shot for a client in Chicago. The client wanted an "old time" look to

the shot, so I pulled out a Speed Graphic and used the original Optar

    lens.

After admiring the work of Emil Schildt here on Photo.Net for some

time I have myself been dabbling with his light painting technique.

Here is a fashion shot I did recently using said technique.

Good shot. I've seen a shot similar to this in a photo technique book I have, but somehow this is far better composed. The tracks are what really draw and guide my eyes in this.
  1. Very good image. This one jumped out of your portfolio here right at me. I love the flow of the curve juxtaposed againts the rigity of the office building. This is really a very "sexy" Architectural shot. If I owned that building I'd want this as a cover for a brochure to entice propective occupants. Top notch.

Marcus that sounds like a real cool trick! Almost like a poor man's Polaroid Transfer. You have a point as far as the old carbon print look, maybe a nice experiment would be to make a digital neg and try some alternative processes (cyanotype, bromoil or platinum may make interesting versions of this image).

Jesus! What a shot! Man Critter this is probably the best shot I've seen you post so far. The second I saw it It immediately reminded me of the scene from Fritz Lang's Metropolis, when he brings the Maria Robot to life.

    Just straight out awesome shot!

The contrast could be a little higher. The blacks seem flat, but it could just be the scan.

Interesting that you shot Tech Pan at that speed. I shoot it at ASA 200 myself, but process in TMax.
