1.
Hi Edward, The optical path is clear but if there was lint or dust, it would affect slides and B&W negs too which is doesn't. It's not on the neg as I've scanned the same images on a v700 (see image) and no problems. It's not a focal plane shutter issue or development as I've scanned in images taken on an ETRSI, rolleiflex, hasselblad and leica 35mm. Problem appears only on colour negs with this particular scanner.

Hi Charles - I've tried all that but I never use any auto setting for scanning. For this problem it makes no difference where the MA are positioned and the band appears in the preview scan too.

Scanned on a v700 no band visible
https://s3.postimg.org/u3r4fuwoz/img151.jpg

 2.
Hi folks, hope someone can help.

I'm getting a band across the top of negs after scanning. Both the lens and mirror are clean and this doesn't happen with slides. I'm using Vuescan 32bit 9.2.24
Thanks

 3.
Hi folks, looking for some help re this lens I just bought second hand. I've searched and can't find an answer to this. The corners are VERY soft and I'm less than impressed. I've never used one of these before but I'm led to believe they are supposed to be better than CF lenses.

I've ran a couple of rolls through using the lens and did various tests. First thing I noticed was viewing distant trees, hills etc when at the infinity stop mark. It's soft through the viewfinder/ground glass. Moving it back and forth, the lens seems to stop short of reaching infinity.

I also set up test objects at 2m & 1m and the barrel markings were saying it was focused at 15 & 8 metres respectively. Looking through the viewfinder, it is not visibly in focus either. That suggests to me that the lens is wildly out.

The image attached below is focused at infinity and the FLE set to infinity too. The results are horrendous in my opinion if you look at the top and bottom right sides of the image.

When I'm twisting the FLE, nothing happens that I can see at all, no matter what distance I focus at.

Could this be my focusing technique? I can't seem to find any instructions on how to set the lens. I have tried setting the FLE first then focus, then setting focus then setting the FLE to the distance marker on the lens. Results are poor in my images.

If anyone can shed some light, I'd be very grateful.
