1.
Thanks for the responses. I have cleaned the contact on both the camera as well as the flash, the batteries are new, and I have tried everywhere from 1/1 to 1/128 with lots of time in between. I can't even get it to fire on the first shot half the time, even though the red light is on indicating that it's ready.

 2.
Both camera and flash in manual. Flash is mounted in hot shoe, or through a cable - not wireless. There is no difference either way

 3.
I have a Nikon SB-700 and I can't get it to fire consistently in manual mode. I have asked the support people with Nikon too and they are still digging into it (with no valuable insight yet), but is there anyone that can help?
I want it to be able to fire every shot, whether my camera thinks it needs it or not. I am shooting either a D3S or D300 and it does not fire on either. Pressing the test button, it fires every time.
Any help, insight or things to try would be greatly appreciated. I am running out of ideas and I have a shoot coming up where I'd like to use it.

 4.
Thanks for the input guys. I was not doing any long bursts, and am positive it was not filling the buffer. I did not try the battery re-boot, so will give that a try when I head out again.

Thanks,
Nick

Shun,
It's a triangle (kind of like the play button on a DVD remote). It appears everytime I take a shot.

 5.
I am having an issue with my Nikon D3S. I will be shooting away, and have no issues focusing or taking shots, and out of no where, I will be able to focus, but when I press the button to make the shot, nothing happens (the small "play" symbol comes up in the bottom left corner of the viewfinder as it does when I take a shot however). This will be disabled for anywhere from 1 sec to 1 minute. This is a huge problem since I photograph wildlife and need to capture precise moments. And other times, the auto-focus will just kick out. This happens for the same duration as not being able to take the shot.
Has anyone had this happen, or know what I could check? I don't want to send my camera away just yet in case it's a simple fix.
I am shooting with a Nikon 200-400 VR II Lens
Thanks for the help!
Nick
