PS:
Charles, in keeping with the guidelines of the forum and specifically Alex's thread, my track record is well established of only posting about FD lenses I use.
As a courtesy to you just now, I did reply to your questions, but FYI, I won't be responding further in the open forum as it might be getting too far off onto a tangent here...however, I'll be glad to share any further information via private message if you like.

No film or filters...I had LifePixel convert a camera to Infrared...I use a free PP software called GIMP for Infrared because it has the feature for color channel swapping built in...most others do not.

-

Well, you didn’t reference anything specific so I’ll just take a stab at it.
I mentioned it was Infrared, shot with the Canon FDn 17mm/4.0.
ISO100, F16, 1/20, tripod.
Photo below is SOOC.
( Photo above with blue sky & water is after Red & Blue channel swap in post )

Wow, at all the reactions to the 17mm...agree the 17 (and the 20) have really done well / surprised me...2 lenses I now wish I'd had for years instead of just months.

-

I've been impressed with the 17/4...picked it up used off EBay and so far haven't found any issues with it

Appreciate all the feedback...consensus seems very positive about its IQ which is always a make or break issue.
I had barely gotten a used one unwrapped when a used 35-105 also arrived and it quickly became a favorite, leaving the 28-85 sitting in storage.

Agree the 28-85 zoom range is a good one and I've decided to try dedicating it as the main FD lens on a body I had converted for Infrared shots...so was curious what a number of other users thought about it's IQ.
Not sure about the 'build quality' comments but at my age it'll probably outlast me, LOL

Any actual first hand IQ knowledge & experience with this lens would be appreciated.

Alex, IMO, the Canon FDn 70-150/4.5 lens is one of
their very best...incredible IQ...and if I had that
same lens in a 2.8 I'd think I'd died and gone
to heaven :)

Looks like something happened to the Flickr image in my earlier post further up the thread, and I don't know how to reload it...apparently the 'edit' function times out after a while.

If the Vivitar is one that happens to be made for the Canon FD mount, no additional adapter will be required.
Can you find out which mount Vivitar you have?

For me, shut-in for a couple days from a bad ice storm, Mother Nature sent a surprise visitor: "Fox Sparrow"
Never saw one before...Audubon bird guide doesn’t show their range to include NC and mid-Atlantic states.
Someone from Virginia also posted a shot of one yesterday…his first sighting as well.
Maybe the crazy snow / ice storm weather pushed them into these states…dunno.
But I wasn't about to look a "gift-bird" in the mouth.
