Hi , what a well exposed and detailed  image, the dark BG just adds to this and bings out the color very well. Just my opinion but the composition would be so much improved if just a little part of the stem was showing , instead it makes this beautiful presentation look like its floating in Mid air. Beautifully captured and well focused on the eye as you say. I would suggest an ISO of 400 giving you two more stops to increase you F/Stop to at least F/5.6 and giving your depth of field a larger area. I think your F/stop was just to low..John
