Michael, I totally agree about the utility pole. I didn't give it any thought until now because it was just a natural part of the scene. Had I moved my angle over to get it out, I would have lost the lady in the background and maybe some other elements. I guess I could ps it out, but should I?

Crop from a full body photo I took of her. All thoughts appreciated...

(This is my granddaughter. As her mom was getting her ready for a little

session with me, I noticed she was watching me intently as I set up a rapidbox

mini, so I took this sort of candidly)

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  1. This was a group shot, but this little angel was just too beautiful to me to leave only as a group piece. I am not thrilled about the background, but her precious face and eyes may have made this a good seller (that was 13 years ago, I did not crop it then:( )

  2. I am looking back through my years of photography and testing the "timelessness" if you will of certain poses, some were great, others, so-so... This is the Mother of the Bride and her sisters, pre-wedding portrait...

  3. I have posted a few 13 year old wedding shots, re-processed the old original

files shot with the old Canon 1D 4 megapixel... I am testing some of the poses

to see if these comps are still relative to today's wedding photos. Please share

your thoughts... (Feel free to comment on the others in this folder if you have

    time)

    Thank you so much...

  4. This is one of my 13 year old wedding photos, I stopped shooting weddings

about then. I am thinking about getting weddings going again, and as I re-visit

some of my old poses, I am curious, is this pose still considered "fashionable"? I

know some poses have gotten cliche' and some are timeless. any thoughts

    would be helpful...

Shot with original 4.3 megapixel canon 1D years ago :-)

    Thanks

  5. Thoughts on the is the "finish" on this portrait? Is there enough contrast to keep

it from looking flat? Following these two children through the park today using

    only natural light.

    Thank you as always.

    Self Portrait

This is a 3 speedlight self portrait. I was practicing with the 10x20

raprid box (rim) and the rapid box mini (hair), with the 60 in"

softlighter ii for the main light. I don't know if I would call it

"low key" but I am curious about the lighting in general. I am

brighter on the left of the image than I wanted, but I thought I'd get

some opinions on this lighting in general. Thanks for you input.

    Regards.

  6. I am doing a documentary on my 5 yr old grandson, who has Autism. He is a special

little guy. My question is this: For the cover photo of the documentary, would you use

this dramatic version of this photo, or the color version I uploaded? (it is in my children

folder) I like them both, and this is going to be an in depth photographic study of his

case. I just want make sure it's not TOO dramatic for this special topic. Any thoughts

    would be appreciated.

  7. Any thoughts on this capture. Shooting with 5Dsr, burst mode, high ISO, with the field

lights on. Both teams had bright red pants, lol. would you knock down the saturation, or

let it shine? I will be shooting all their games this fall (it's a grandpa thing:) I like it, but

before I show it to the school, I'd love some quick thoughts... (they want to use some

    of them for the yearbook)

    Thanks.

Landrum Kelly had mentioned it would be interesting to see this at 100% rather than

the way I cropped the last one... Here it is. a different shot, but same bird, cropped at

100%. This one had the extra detail Landrum was talking about. Thoughts? (I am fairly

new with birds, but want to get better...

Need your thoughts on this style of shooting. On location, using homes natural

background.lighting was from one 600ex speedlight through a large softbox.

    Thanks
