Alf,
I dont know if a grad filter would've helped. The day was pretty gloomy. It was about to snow and there was no blue in the sky at all. At the same time, I've never used a grad filter so I may be wrong!
It's interesting that you mentioned the polarizing filter because, now that you mention it, I did use it. I mean, I tried to use it. I put it on and took the picture, and when I looked at it, there were black/blue marks on the corners of the image. First I thought it was the ND filter because when I used the polarizer alone, it didn't have the black stuff on the edges. It looked like a dark vignette with blue edges. I messed with it for a while and then just gave up and just used the ND. What was wrong with the polarizer? Do you know?

This is the first good photo I took using an ND filter. I thought it'd come out
different, but it wasn't windy enough for the water to look misty. Also, I
don't like that the sky looks like it's washed out. It wasn't -- that's what the
sky looked like that the time. It was rainy! Still, the shot doesn't look as
well as I would've hoped. What do you think?

Beautiful photo, and I liked it more because there was a person in it to show scale, as you said. It really helps appreciate the size.

Nice colors and subject, but it'd be nicer with less grass and more sky/barn.

I dont have that much experience but it looks like you used HDR on this. It's a beautiful picture, and I especially liked the sun rays. The mountain peaks are beautiful. However, the sky looks a little too... I'm not sure what word to use. But I'll say this, when I see the photo, my eyes go right to the sky. It's a little too HDR, too intense?

Thanks for the advice!

I agree with Mr. Penland. It's beautiful, and although the sky really catches the eye, it would've been nice to be able to see the boats more. They look dark and cut off.

Siegfried, that's awesome! Really beautiful. Lucky that you were there. I tried getting a shot like this but it was too light outside still and I haven't purchased a filter to help...
I like the deep blue at the top and how the light on the left makes the cloud formations visible.

Great job, this photo is beautiful. I don't usually like B&W but the contrast (I think that's what it's called) is great. I've been wanting to practice doing something like this.
I wonder if you can take a similar photo and have the stars come out?

I love the photo, but when I saw it the first thing that popped out at me was the woman. She looks like a giant.

Awesome. Love the colors, the water reflection, the composition. No complaints, except that I wish the left side wasn't so dark.
Beautiful :)

One of my favorite photos!

I like this photo a lot. The colors and simplicity make it stand out. I would've liked to see more of the landscape, though.

Very interesting to look at. I've never seen ants do this. Just started doing macros so I never really paid attention to ants before.

My favorite part of the photo is the light around the bird, and how he looks puffy and relaxed. I like that it's not in color, too. I don't usually like black and white...

Interesting photo. How did you make the castle brighter? Photoshop? Painting with light?

Awesome photo. That's all I can say!

I like that you took a photo of something I wouldn't have. I would've overlooked the moment.
Maybe next time you can include the tail, and more open space to the left to imply movement!

I thought the ostrich alone would be a boring photo so i focused on its feathery
behind! Looks even better in B&W. Im not used to taking photos of "sections" of
animals, so I wondered what orhers thought.
