  1. As Non-US resident, some effort was required to subscribe. Nonetheless, after some time it felt the right thing to do. I guess you would have more subscribers if you had a simpler method of subscription and wouldn't require registering at Paypal. I don't expect better treatment as a subscriber, but want to repay for the advice and service I already enjoyed previously.
  2. Does the aperture open when you cock the shutter? It will only close down when you press the shutter as it focuses wide open. If the iris blades stick or move sluggish when you release, you might try with a drop of lighter fluid. Hope you can enjoy this camera, does the selenium meter still work?
  3. First of all: Congratulations!

Try to get away with available light and 200-400 ISO Film. Try the EF85 to avoid distortions. But the most important part is: Your role is husband & father and only after you fulfilled those two obligations you are free to be the photogapher.

    Good luck.

  4. Hello Anand, people are abandoning their old stuff in great numbers, so you run a big chance in finding a good used one. While in America the Kodak Carousel type seems to be preferred, here in Europe it's the straight tray type. While some are only suitable for projection on a screen other models offer the opportunity to project via a mirror on a smaller viewing screen. This is a nice feature if you are preselecting to scan and your space is limited. Undoubtly some will recommend only the Leica Pradovits, the Braun projectors aren't bad either.
  5. Congratulations Michael!

James, it seems to be a common case that the buyers of special equippment are counting the hours, not the days until it arrives. If only the slightest thing causes delay they start posting and sometimes even slander the seller in public. I am glad for you that this case seems to turn out fine, like so many others posted here on photonet. In the end it is up to the buyer to make sure that he has the necessary contact options to reach the seller. A little research can't harm either before you part with your money.

  6. I guess Eric is referring to the Aran Island, which is impressive for the fact that the locals used seaweed to generate a thin layer of soil. (No use importing sheep when they starve to death). If you want unusual, go to Knock north of Galway. Hundreds of Souvenir shops selling plaster statues of the Virgin Mary and bottles to collect holy water in the park where there are hundreds of man made fountains running on holy (tab) water.
