Not very interesting. Your old work was more interesting and sensual. This is just boring. But, it is good to experiment and develop your art so keep it up.

This image looks interesting but it is not a great image. For me, it has big problems. The lighting is so blown out on the model's right side that her head looks disembodied from her neck. I find it unsettling to look at. I think more subtle lighting would have been a great improvement.

You shot this image with a Canon digital point and shoot camera??? Amazing. It really proves that equipment is greatly over-rated and the only thing that really counts is the eye of the photographer. Keep shooting!

Color wins. It tells a stronger story. For me, the color version tells a story of redemption. The scars are there but life goes on.
A simple but great image.

I love it. Especially think the lighting of the hair is great.

The lighting of this photo is extraordinary. Very Rambrandt-like. One small flaw is that I would have preferred a bit less light on her neck.
-
Good idea but by placing the subject wearing yellow against a yellow background the photo looses much of its potential impact.

This is the POTW? I may be a bit harsh in my ratings but the cumulative ratings say it all = Aesthetics 6.02/10 Originality 5.65/10. Middle of the road.
I think this one slipped through.

What did you do to get that wonderful expression on her face? Great photo and terrific lighting.

One more vote for the "threads". Though, I wonder if a more horizonal crop would have been even more interesting.

Looks to me like your 3rd dimension is an aftermarket lens shade. I used to have one of those cheap rubber ones that did the same thing to my wide angle shots. Given that you scanned the photo why don't you use PhotoShop to "clone" the corners.

It's a nice photo but I think it would have been stronger if you would have shot from a lower angle and put the sun behind the camels neck. That way you could have opened up a stop, stop and a half and gotten a brighter sky and more interesting waves on the water. I find the sun behind the camel's head distracting. Did you use a little fill flash? The camel's fur looks a bit bright given the light.

Very beautiful image. I've never seen the aurora but it must be amazing to see it with one's own eyes. I think this image and others on your website might be stronger if you showed more dark sky in the shot. The darker reference points like the trees increase the impact of the bright un-earthly colors.

I like the photo and bet it looks better when viewing the actual print. I also think any picture of a dog has a leg up on the competition.

I shot this a few years ago while in Paris for the weekend. The
clouds looked great from the ground but by the time I got to the top
of the tower the sky closed in and none of those pictures where worth
printing. Hand held, EOS A2.

Just goes to prove that photography is at its best when we don't follow rules--even the rules we make for ourselves. This is a great image. I'm glad you decided to take a landscape shot with someone in it.

I reposted this because the last time it was too large and would not
show the entire image on the screen. Shot on the road between
Callendar and Oban in Scotland.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have several shots showing the nose but I like not having it be immediately clear what the beast is. In fact, that was what I was trying to achieve--"what kind of beast is this that is looking at me?" The print I have framed at home is fairly large (9x14 or so) and people always stop and look into the eyes for a good long while. Some people get it right away and others take a bit longer.

Nice image. You ought to see if any of the stock houses would buy it from you.

Tony,
Oh, so that's what that bright bit is in the middle. You've got a great sense of humor as well as a good eye. How did you keep the sun from totally flaring out?
BTW - have you tried the new Kodak Portra B&W 400? I'm wondering how you are rating it. True 400 vs the 100 you rate similar films.

After looking at this photo of the week I viewed the other images you have posted. You are both a talented photographer and a great model. I especially like two nude self-portraits: "Head back nude" and "nude with mirrors". These images are exceptionally beautiful and sensuous. It is difficult to look at "head back nude" and not be taken with the desire to bestow a kiss on those lips. I get pretty bored looking at nudes that make the model look no more human than a piece of driftwood.
I think you are a better photographer than many contemporary shooters being celebrated for their nudes (Greg Gorman, Howard Schatz, Bruce Webber, etc.). They use $50,000 in lighting equipment and don't achieve the result you get with a single bulb. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
