Leslie, I enjoyed your summary and the rich colors in the photo. Dang, those fishing floats look like edible berries! Tom

Aside from the processing exercise and practice which is always beneficial, with this photo I think there are two outputs I'd prefer: 1) embrace the odd lighting setup and colors, or 2) convert fully to black and white. I rarely use b&w, but even my quick practice result was pretty stunning. I'm sure more experienced folk than me could really produce a great photo.

Frustrating! You might try mail@imagenomic.com or their Facebook page.

You are not the one I quoted.

I would always recommend converting to DNG format.

I'm thinking everyone is getting tired of the DNG versus proprietary raw format wars and posts.

I thought that the Spectraview software would work with the i1Pro display and the Colormunki Photo, but not with the Colormunki Display?

Sorry, Andrew. Somehow I missed your earlier post.

I believe Camera Raw 6.7 is available for Photoshop CS5. It will allow you to open a LR4 file in CS5 as a smart object honoring the new 2012 process abilities. The tools are not available in ACR CS5, but the the LR4 version edits are recognized. I think I have this right...

I know it's possible because I've done it. I have even ordered an it8 target and reference file from another source, and they work fine. The only reason it wouldn't work is if you manually downloaded the wrong reference file.
Good luck, amigo!

Did you get things set up yet? There's no reason this shouldn't be working if you have the correct IT8 reference file and the correct target. If the program keeps trying to download a file, I would cover that barcode on the target and then the program will prompt you to find the reference file wherever you put it. Try that.
Tom

Thanks for explaining the upgrade policies in detail. That's what I was has hinting at in my post, but I didn't want to get the facts wrong.

I would take the free software also. However, you should look into the current upgrade policies of Adobe (for future reference). You don't want to be locked-in or locked-out of choices.

You should be eligible for a free update to Silverfast 8. I was.

Here's why you couldn't find the ref file on XRite's site:
"History: Reference files dated earlier than 2006 have been removed from the site. Due to the aging of photographic media, it is suggested that both film and paper IT8 targets be replaced at regular intervals."

The disk that came with my scanner for ezcolor has the txt file you mentioned: MONT4 5.2005.05.txt.
Here's the beginning of it:
IT8.7/1
ORIGINATOR "X-Rite"
DESCRIPTOR "IT8.7/1 Reference Data File, 4x5 Ektachrome"
CREATED "Tuesday, June 21, 2005"
MANUFACTURER "X-Rite"
PROD_DATE "2005:26"
SERIAL "Batch Average Data"
MATERIAL "Kodak Ektachrome Product Family"
NUMBER_OF_FIELDS 11
BEGIN_DATA_FORMAT
SAMPLE_ID XYZ_X XYZ_Y XYZ_Z LAB_L LAB_A LAB_B STDEV_X STDEV_Y STDEV_Z STDEV_DE
END_DATA_FORMAT
NUMBER_OF_SETS 288
I can email it to you if you let me know where to send it.
