    Hi all

This is my first attempt at doing pin hole photography with my

DSLR I would love your thoughts about the turn out?

Composition was not my focus here rather exposure and detail..

    Thanks

    Thanks for the comments!!

You wont believe but I never used any lighting only an amazing little lens being the canon 55m F1.8.  If I could personally change 1 thing it would be the light reflection in his glasses but I am not sure if this would spoil the amount of detail in his face and make him look flat?

I am hoping to get my lighting within a month or so and will be posting alot of my pictures!!

Once again thanks for taking the time to comment!!!

Thanks for the critique.  I miss spelt the flash its a snoot not snout hehe.  here is a brief discription; designed to give an approx. 15° controlled spot of light, with a hard shadow effect.

I will add a photo of it.  I took your advice and edited another image of the shot however my iso was too high resaulting in alot of detail lost while reducing noise, i will post a photo of that aswell.

    Hi all

I have got a question. I am getting very low ratings for

photos which I think carry a story and good compsoitional

rules. This photo for example has contrasting colours, a

man in a poor situation yet he is smiling, the fact that he is

hiding his eyes brings mystery. This to me has stadium and

punctum so why would it score a 3,6?

I would love to know what I am doing wrong that feels rite?

Hi This was a difficult photo to edit as the subject was underexposed,

the photo was taken in difficult conditions so I had no time for lighting

checks. I think I did alright with the post processing but I would like to

    get your ideas?

    Hi Asher

I am refering to the basic rules of composition. diagonals, the grass in front has texture so b&w and the direction of the grass leads your eye into the fence which then leads you to the small treas in the background bringing emphasys to distance. I shot this photo with an appeture of 9 and a standard 18-55mm lense (was set to 28mm).  The fence was leaning itself giving that wide andgle lense feel.  I think the reason why it is lacking contrast in my mind is because there is no detail in the sky, I suppose I could edit it a bit.

    But thanks for the comments!

    Hi All

This is not normally the type of picture that I would take however I have

been reading up alot about composition and except for some clouds

    missing it follows the rules.

I like it but don't love it and would like your thoughts?

This is a very dangerous part of town at night so I didn't have time for a tripod! plus my girlfriend was shouting at me from the car, so you can say I am a bit rebelious!

    Hi Guys

I was just wondering about the composition of this photo. I feel that the

church tower that is faded and the horse that is in sharp focus works

however I am in 2 minds about the branches of the tree: Firstly I feel it

works because coming infront of the tower gives emphasis to the deapth

of field, Secondly I feel that It would have made the subject stand out

more if the branches werent touching, creating a good negative space?

Any advice as to which would work better?

  1. In photography I have learnt that contrast is normally a winner, however I believe that if you can find contrast whilst having symetry you have something completely unique and that is what I have found in this photo!

    So chuffed!!
