  1. I have always been attracted to old barns and the history they share in the lives of farmers and folks who used them everyday as they counted on their barns for survival.  This is a great capture.  I love the way you have done this one.  I really like the frame as well.  Thanks for sharing.  Best regards.

Not that there's a competition here, but the Elves have picked a winner!! Definitely a studio shot, but definitely well done! Love the eyes, the lighting, even the color of the carpet accentuates the flesh tones. Nicely done! Regards.

Perfect pose and lighting.  Love the eyes.  Great capture.  If I was nitpicking, I would smooth her forehead out just a tad, but perhaps I've looking at too many fashion magazine covers!!  Cheers.

Absolutely stunning.  Crispness and depth of field with the very light fog makes this capture a candidate for any outdoor magazine cover!  Best regards.

I agree with most all of the comments. To me, this capture evokes a good level of symbolisms. The graves, ghostly shadow, and overall darkness of the shot symbolizes death while the daffodils (with the light shining on them) and the bird symbolizes life. Another great selection for discussion by the elves! Just a little more exposure, IMHO, would have added to the shot. Great capture ugar! Best regards.

Wonderful capture!  Clarity, composition, and contrasts are nicely done.  Cheers for the New Year!  Okay, I've run out of words that start with "c"!

As I look at this shot, I don't completely agree with some of the remarks. Lighting, perhaps could have been improved, but what I see is the over-all ambience of the room. I'm drawn first to the religious wall icon, then to a subject whose wrinkles, and stare speak volumes to her faith, wisdom, and simplicity. Then I was drawn to the back room, which I imagined was a kitchen where this woman has probably prepared thousands of meals for family and loved ones. The crispness, field of view, and the choice of black & white is excellent. Mattes and/or borders, or frames is generally the last thing I look at! I like the capture! Best regards for the New Year!

Well done, Jay!  The white paper and floor reflection is a real plus. If I had to be harsh or nit-picky, I would suggest to diminish the amount of red reflection on the wrapping near her right foot.  The chin looks a bit awkward below the turtle neck.  But, heck, I'm not a professional!!   Over all, I love the picture! Cheers to you for the Christmas Season.

Love the composition.  Love the contrasts of colors as well as the tranquility with the pending rain.  Keep them coming.  Thanks and best regards for the season.  Mickey.

  2. Great work, David!  Almost looks three-dimensional!  I can see an oil-painter using this as a subject for a wonderful canvas moment!  I just love fall colors and you have captured God's paintbrush in action!  Cheers!

    Hey Marc,

We fell in love with the Tetons a few years ago.  Such a beautiful place.  Other than being just a tad-bit dark, which I believe, if lightened, would bring a little more punch to the foreground, I'm impressed with the capture. Nice work.  Cheers for the Holiday Season!
