  1. The red eye flight takes me from one place and time to another where a new day begins. Hopefully we'll all land in 2023 in comfort and start the year with good coffee, friends, and plenty of photo opportunities.

Those familiar with the landscape will recognize Oakland, CA below.  The brightest light mid-frame is a stadium.

#1 on my list would be functional galleries and albums.

But this thread isn't about your priorities. We all want functional galleries. As I've said in the past, they will either fix it or not. I'm done asking about it. As its for nudes, we should have a choice of opting in or out. It's a statement of fact, not a complaint and your comment comes off like a dismissal. We shouldn't even have to discuss it. Life is short and I've got better things to do.

Luca is hilarious and I appreciate the levity.

  3. It would be nice to have an across the site opt out from nudes, like we had before. They are both blurred and crystal clear on any given day on the front page of the site, for me at least. Or, maybe people could start posting nudes of men. That might balance things out, or be entertaining, if we can't opt out completely.

Laura - I love the muted fall colors in your photo.

Thanks Glenn. It's kind of you to say. I never underestimate the power of a cloud.

I think I've seen a couple of images from your session with the fog on the Snake River. Bravo!

Jon Eckman's image this week is another I wish I'd taken.

Walla as in Walla Walla, Washington!

    Mickey,

Yakima! That's a lot of steps. I was unaware of public portfolios. Thank you for the incredible effort.

Coincidently, my husband posted to the public Macro forum, so we looked at his gallery. Yes, those images are there. But, this isn't a viable solution. We should be able to add a photo to our own gallery/portfolio/album from within our own profile, and then have control over it's display.

I'm looking at other options like Flickr. If anyone is missing a photo it might be in my, or my husband's gallery under "Image Comments". Page after page of other folk's images we both made comments on.

think that my other post in this thread will resolve your gallery problem.

    Greetings Mickey,

Thanks for the consideration. I did not have images in any portfolio/gallery/album on the old site. I didn't lose anything.

I don't have any trouble finding  the gallery section. The current and ongoing problem for me, as stated above, is that I have no mechanism by which to add a photo to any heading in the Gallery section. I get a box that says "there's nothing here yet" There are the little boxes for sorting, but no means to add an image.

Also stated above, images belonging to OTHER PEOPLE are currently in MY gallery under the heading "Image Comments". I made comments on them years ago, but they should not be in MY gallery. These images need to be with their owner. There is no way to get rid of them. There are 3 pages of images that don't belong to me ranging from 2012 - 2017. (I stated 10 years worth in error) I have looked in the galleries of other people and I don't see this situation anywhere else.

Currently the Gallery/portfolio/album section of this site is totally nonfunctional for me. What's the point of having a "Gallery" but not being able to hang a picture in it?  I'm not going to ask again about this. I've done so enough times. The powers that be will either fix it, or not.

  7. This was taken yesterday in the Deep Creek area of Green Lane Park, eastern PA between Allentown and Philadelphia. Red oaks, sycamore, red maple, birchs, dogwood, hickory are all at peak color. Some tupelo still have leaves. Many vines like Virginia creeper have a lot of color. The understory is also very colorful with Vaccinium and Viburnum acerifolium at peak. White oaks, locusts, beech, walnut, butternut, Norway Maple are all coming on.

  8. I saw this update shortly after it was posted and I'm sure it will come as a relief for many.

The change in my own gallery certainly came as a surprise. I still have no mechanism to add a photo to any heading under Gallery. However, under "Image Comments" there are photos by other people that I commented on over the last 10 years. I have no use for this. So, the only image content in MY gallery is not mine and I see no way to get rid of it.

When will the means to have a fully functioning gallery come about? I've asked about this privately, now I'm asking here.

    Any progress, updates?

You're probably asking the wrong people. Many are in the same boat as you. Try asking mjensen directly and see if you get an update, answer, relief, belly rub, or nothin' at all.  But, it's usually a good policy to not invite guests until you have a place for them to arrive.

Since Dustin can open one of your images in a gallery something is happening. Stay tuned, maybe more will happen.

  10. OK, I tried to edit my post about "reacting" to Toms lovely image as I misunderstood the "x" over the heart.

I got an edit box, but then was told it couldn't be saved because I took too long, but there was a green "saving" box at the bottom. Confusing.  We need more time to edit.  An "x" over something looks, to me at least, like it's somehow off limits.
